[Fixed] Crash to desktop when starting custom game
----------------------------------------------------------------------

FIX: http://www.jactf.com/mods (thanks to teh). Just scroll to the bottom of the page, download JAMP.zip, extract and replace original jamp.exe with the downloaded one. Let me know if the problem still persists.

By the way, if you have dealt with JA+, please look at this discussion:

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey!

I recently got Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, which is a nice cool game.
I'll just let you know - I've read EVERY forum about my problem.

So the problem in short words is - when I change "seta r_mode" to "-1", the game will crash when I start custom multiplayer game. There is no such problem in single player.

I kinda know the solution, I found that some guys had similar problem and they downloaded file jamp-widescreen-fix.zip, which helped them. However, the file is no longer avaliable where I looked (dead links). If you know what Im talking about, please upload it and let me know!

More detailed version: When I change resolution in game, it restarts the game, but resulotion stays the same. When I edit jampconfig.cfg (change r_customwidth, r_customheght, r_mode, cg_fov", it starts with perfect resolution and aspect ratio in widescreen, but when I create custom game, it crashes to desktop at loading, which is the problem. I discovered that the crash happens only if seta r_mode is set to "-1", but if it's not, the resolution will remain the lowest possible and not widescreen. I updated it to 1.01., ran as admin, downloaded opengl file and did a lot more things, which dont just help. I have intel i5 processor, nvidia 810m geforce graphics card (I also tried running it with integrated video card, but the result was the same).

This one guy got everything sort of going by changing resolution and r_mode in in-game console, but when I try to do it, it requires restart. When I restart, its the same old problem again.

Waiting for your help, guys.
Thank you,
Ray Hoodoo

download jamp.zip at the bottom of http://www.jactf.com/mods and extract it over your jamp.exe in SteamApps\common\Jedi Academy\Gamedata
it contains just the fix for this issue.

YUP... theres your issue right there: nvidia 810m geforce graphics card. :-(
I have that same card on my Asus laptop. I had to send my laptop back TWICE to Asus to get the issues resolved because it could not decide whether to use integrated or Nvidia. After 2 BSODs and warranty fixes...problem resolved.

yep, but it just streches really really wide and narrow. Anyhow, I'd like to play it fullscreen really.

But how comes it doesnt run when I run JAMP with intel integrated?

I looked at tehs page and he has some fixes there, mostly mods. How does a CTF mod help with screen issues???
Anyhow, is that fix for S/P ONLY? That seems silly to me.
If you have the option, stay away from integrated graphics and use NON-integrated if you have that option. Hoodoo, I think your laptop is confused, as mine was.

I'm thinking Intel has whats called a 'brain fart'.

i don't think this is an issue in single player because you can't host servers in it.

yeah there's mostly CTF mods on the site. the jamp.zip mod is not for CTF though, it just has the engine fix for the widescreen issue.
Can confirm: This still works from the looks of it. Thanks! I've been itching to get back into it.
