Can I play online with a pirated version of the game?
If yes, must I do something before trying to play online?

No, i don't think so and steam has a rule stating no discussion of this.

Probably not, just buy the damn game. I would understand if it was some crazy $60 but the game falls alot in price, keep your eye out and it might even be only four dollars or what not.

I have the game already, a friend of mine doesn't and I was wondering if we could play together, until he buys the game during a sale.
Any other mod I should download for multiplayer?

As far as i'm aware, movie battles is the only multiplayer mod but you can play base multiplayer by adding the server's ip address.

During big Steam sales (Easter, Summer, Winter etc) you can get the game for 2 €.

Easter is just around the corner so your friend won't have to wait too long to get the game!
