STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy™

STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy™

Can't Save
I finally got around to starting this game, but when I load in after the initial cutscene I get the following error in red:

Error during savegame-rename. Check "saves/auto.sav" for write-protect or diskfull!!

When I tried to manually save I got a similar error:

Error during savegame-rename. Check "saves/jedi_00.sav" for write-protect or diskfull!!

I've tried reinstalling the game, and verifying the game cache, but neither have fixed the issue. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Well before lets try the most basic question. Is the hard drive its installed on actually full? Are you admin and the only user on your computer?

Try a complete uninstall by deleting the "Jedi Academy" folder from steamapps, steam common folder then reinstall. If that doesn't work let me know.

Hey, thanks for replying. The hard drive its installed on has about 300gb of space left, and yes I am an admin and the only user on my computer.

I've tried doing a complete uninstall, but unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.

I've also tried saving the game using console commands, but that didn't work either and I got a similar error message.

Please list all the files in your Base folder for me.

Can you tell me how you fixed it please i have the same problem

He fixed it by install a mod titled "OpenJK" which is a total conversion mod and can be found here https://builds.openjk.org/ just download the newest version for windows and extract the file to desktop then move the contents of the file to your gamedata folder.

Overwrite anything it asks you to overwrite and you'll have to use the openjk.x86.exe or something like that to play the game with the mod and also to use steam overlay you must add those .exe as a non steam game.

i downloaded the file and tried to launch the mod in game by going to the settings but it didnt change anything, and if i try to launch it by using the openjk_sp.x86 my antivirus automaticly deletes it.

well if you got it from the site I sent you I promise its not a virus. It is a community driven fix/patch that should help run the game on modern systems. Which anti virus do you use?
airstrike900 Nov 20, 2016 @ 5:48am
i use norton security and it keeps thinking its not trustworthy because there's few people who use norton security and downloaded the file.

Yeah norton is known for false positives. I'm not going to force you to use it. You said before " The hard drive its installed on" does that mean it isn't on your main hard drive? If you have the steam version I recommend you install JK on the same HDD as steam is installed on.

I changed norton with another antivirus and now i can save my gameplay.
Thank you so much!

No problem. Glad it all worked out.

is there a mod to fix jedi knight 2? i have the same problem
`Hi~Fi.`*MMi* Jan 17, 2018 @ 8:29am
@oatraviscollins No there isn't a mod that will fix JK2 like openJK. I suggest trying to run Steam as admin and JK2 as admin. If you have a modern version of windows 8 or 10 a lot of games break if you aren't admin on your computer.

Another cause of this is an anti virus blocking JK2.
