How to legit duel npcs
Hey, so I am getting into the late game single player, and am getting pretty frustrated when fighting the large amounts of higher level saber npcs. Regardless if I am button mashing or trying to carefully get hits in, they'll often two shot me with no problem (am playing with higher lightsaber damage).
Is there a method or a guide on how to duel these guys? Just ruins the immersion having to quicksave and go through a fight five times. I have found some success with spamming grip and attacking while the saber is put away, (or chucking em off a cliff) but I'd prefer a different way.

Lots of practice, practice and practice.

As it was told already, MP is one of the best way to practice. If you don't know how to set it up best, have look here:

Thanks for the replies! I was able to beat the campaign after spending some time learning the dual saber crouching attack, which the bots blocked less often. I'll have to try multi-player sometime

Nice to hear! If you are ever curious to try Multiplayer you'll find plenty of people online! Feel free to join {JoF}Public Server through the ingame console (CTRL & ~ - tilde, found under ESC/above Tab/next to 1) and type any of the following commands:

/Connect JoF.JK3.in
/Connect JoF.JKA.io
/Connect Public.JoFHub.EU

And lastly follow the guide posted above for the most efficient way of setting up Multiplayer with various mods and much more! Looking forward seeing you o/

Back when I used to play online, years ago, I learned that your saber does damage throughout the whole swing, so if you turn away from the swing and keep the saber "inside" your enemy, they will take massive damage. For downward swings, do a backflip. For side swings, turn in the opposite direction. From my experience, the Single Saber Strong Style does the most damage out of everything.

Do you understand counters? Without accounting for maneuvering. In essence, all saber combat styles is basically rock/paper/scissors.

Medium style (yellow) does average damage and average attack speed. It counters the slow speed of Strong Style, but is beaten by the much faster and vicious fast style.

Fast style (blue) does less damage, but the fastest attack speed in the game. It counters medium style as previously mentioned, but is beaten by strong style which can overwhelm it's defenses. Fast style is the best style to use against blaster opponents too. Since you block the most effectively. Fast style is basically obi-wans style from the movies, in that it prioritizes defense.

Strong style (red) does the most damage but has the slowest attack speed. It counters fast style through overwhelming force, but is beaten by medium style, which is faster while delivering decent damage. Strong style is the worst to use to block blaster fire too because its just too slow. Darth Vader is the closest to strong style in the movies. Strong style is basically pure offense.

Good stuff to know, thanks for the comments! Do duel and double handed styles also fit into the counter system?

Double down on what Crimson said and also understand that switching styles slightly confuses the bots and allows for attacks to hit that might not normally within a certain period of switching styles. I always have an insane success rate and fall back on the switch to medium jump upside down 180 spin saber attack.

- Fast uppercut if close
- Pull+stab for impale.
- Rolling stab followed by backwards stab/swing.
- Strong side swing and whip the mouse around so you swing in a circle.
- Boc them; as in just jump on top of them until they fall and hit them on the ground.
- Use acrobatics in your attacks - cartwheels and side hops work well, especially followed with backwards attack.
- Throw your lightsaber behind them to hit them in the back, follow with rolling stab.
- Get them against something and kata, whip mouse around in circles for extra damage.

if you are dueling singleplayer enemies without any add ons consider hitting your walk button (deffault shift) walking basically increases chances of blaster reflection and saber parry but keep in mind until you reach the 3rd set of 5 missions your game your block and parry will not be consistent enough to prevent damage

how do you reliably use dark side powers on the late game npcs? seems like if you dont have the light side force block on they just instantly drain / necksnap you and you can't do anything about it

Basically you want them to be rank 3 or they're pretty much useless.
- Use Grip to quickly toss them, be it far into the air or a death drop. Don't try to hold it in. Can get some extra height if you jump before you use it. If they're jumping, rolling or have thrown their saber they can't block it. Can also throw your own saber or use lightning on them when they're choking.

- Drain whenever you feel you need to, it takes their force and gives you health. Best against crowds. Don't try to use the close range suck version. It sucks. If you're having issues with acrobat or force-user cultists or reborn, hit them with it first.

- Lightning, spam, spam and spam some more. Use against everything unless they're already using absorb. Hit them with it whenever their Rage runs out since the bots will use it until they run out of health, and it will almost always instantly kill them.

- Rage, would generally recommend to not use it at all. It's a bit of a trap, some extra damage and temporary invulnerability in exchange for your health, force and slow regeneration. You don't need the extra damage, you can already one-hit kill people with your saber. Spend your health and force on something else.

i just tried this out with a new character. what i noticed is that the force using ones will immediately break any attempts at force grip, and you need to hold around 10 or 20 force in reserve so they can't drain stunlock you. the drain helps a lot, but i made things much harder for myself by picking two sabers instead of sticking with heavy attack.

Force using ones can easily be killed by force lightning level 3.

the guys who cause issues are the ones who have high level force and a saber (usually wearing red) with lots of health, so you cant just kill them with lightning
