I have a vague recollection of there being some star wars lore that touches on this topic, but I don't know where I could find it again.
If the topic you want to talk about is the hypocrisy of the Jedi... well, there's no shortage of people who'd agree with you, both in the star wars universe and IRL.
Personally I consider the iconic Jedi mind control to be one of the most morally questionably uses of the force that exists.
But c'mon, during the training section of this game you're told "Remember, it's not neccessarily that some powers are evil and some are good. It's about how you use these powers". This phrase and the fact that Kyle Katarn uses force ligtning in combat is more than enough to justify the use of force lighting for a "Good" character
In Jedi Knight 1 if you get any of the "Dark Side" powers such as lightning you will increase the chances of getting the dark side ending.(There was also this that Kyle loses his dark side powers if you go to the light side ending path.)
People are much less receptive to Jedi that use "dark" force powers such as choke and lightning, so during the Clone Wars, techniques like this were frowned upon.
