Unless you tell windows to show the . extensions it won't natively. As long as you're in gamedata and see jasp.exe and jamp.exe you should be able to go in and fix the DPI. Here's a refresher guide.

To fix this you need to get to your “gamedata” folder in JK2 and JKA you must go to your steam library, right click Jedi outcast or Jedi academy, then click properties (located in the context menu), now click the tab titled “Local Files” and then click the box titled "browse local files." If you followed these steps correctly you should see a folder pop up titled "Jedi Outcast" or "Jedi Academy" inside that folder there should be another folder titled "Gamedata" open that by selecting the folder and double clicking or select the folder and press enter key. Now you should see two “.exe” files one titled "jk2sp.exe" and "jk2mp.exe" (for JK2) or "jasp.exe" and "jamp.exe" (for JKA)

Once you find them select one and right click the .exe then select properties click on "Compatibility" Tab and check the box at the button titled "Disable scaling on high DPI" or "Override high DPI scaling behaviour" and switch this to "Application" Do this for both .exe files and if you have JK2 you need to do this for that games .exe files as well.

Good luck let me know if it works for you.

Open the console with shift + the key under esc
type in these commands seperately:
r_customwidth 1920
r_customheight 1080
r_mode -1
vid_restart

Default fov is at 85 which is really low for widescreen, I would recommend cg_fov 110 for 1920x1080.

I also recommend uncapping the framerate on newer hardware to reduce input lag:
com_maxfps 0

May the force be with you.

i was told by all these guides to change the resoultion to what fits my tv which i use 1600 by 900
so i switched the customewidth to 1600 and custome hight to 900. before this i tried the width at 1920 and height at 1080 but it didnt work. the seta r_mode is set to -1 and i even wrote the extra script at the bottom which is like cg_fov to 95 which was recomended. i dont know how to switch extentions on so i cant see the exe files unfortunatly. nothing has worked, i even verified my game files. i just wanna play this damn game T.T

also when i got to properties>local files>game cache> base, i only see the one star was jedi knight jedi adacemy file but its just the installer, not the actual launcher that im scalling the dpi to, idk if thats wrong

not very techy but im following all these steps to a T and nothing works, pissing me off that it works for everyone else. ughhhh

meant to say gamedata not gamecache... also the files say jamp and jasp no .exe.... when i right click either and go to properties it doesnt give me the compatability option. so idk where to go from here :(

I don't want to be mean but you can google how to see file extensions. Usually it's safe to assume that you aren't the first person to have this problem so it's faster to google how to do something rather than ask on a forum. Like now, in the hour since you posted that it would have been faster. But still, here is what you should do:
go to windows explorer -> view -> click on options, not the arrow -> view again in the new window and uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types -> apply -> apply to all folders -> ok

you have to actually select the files to get their properties and yes those jamp and jasp are more than likely the .exe files you just don't have the option set to see the .exe behind them.

I created a .txt document, opened it with Notepad++ and saved it as a .cfg file. Done. Works flawlessly.

the key under esc key "~" is called the "tilda", but it fails to open any console for me. :steamsad:

few additional camera settings for the best MultiPlayer experiance
You can set them in-game and pick if they are nice for you or not!
Just do not forget to save these settings /writeconfig autoexec
  • /cg_DynamicCrosshair 0
    - solid crosshair and thus aim, only blaster bolt deflection is harder with it, but more enjoyable!
  • /cg_DrawFPS 1
    - just to show FPS overlay, not needed but usefull
  • /cg_lagometer 1
    - will show ping/packetflow overlay, usefull to determine when it is You who lags or server/opponent
  • cg_drawScore 1
    - will draw your score(versus the highest score on server) and team score(versus enemy team) in bottom right corner, usefull specially for TFFA
  • cg_drawScores 1
    - will draw game progress towards scorelimit in upper right corner

Good Luck&Have Fun!
