Um... so the cloud f**ked everything up?
The cloud kept restoring old saves and other settings after i kept deleting and changing it, so I disabled cloud... and what did it do? "oh okay, you dont want cloud huh? okay have a ♥♥♥♥ed up resolution you cant restore, have a nice day!" So now my resolution is♥♥♥♥♥♥small and I can't restore it no matter what my config files say (its completely ignoring them) so okay... I turn cloud back on and it STILL dont fix. My game is now ♥♥♥♥ed, gg cloud. So... any ideas on what to do? And yes, already reinstalled from scratch and that did nothing. I've never once had this issue and im extremely angry right now, wtf is it doing?

What game are you talking about? JKA doesn't even have cloud support.
Jatts Jan 13, 2018 @ 9:19am
oh really?

Looks like it does to me, and it also fixed my save issue... while it messed up everything else in the process sadly. If you're going to question me instead of helping, at least do a bit of research first....

I'd love to see what files it actually backs up because I've never seen my saves transferred. Regardless. All the settings are located in the jaconfig.cfg and jampconfig.cfg delete those and it will create new files with default settings then you'll just have to make your changes manually.

I've tried all that, and it doesn't work. Believe me I already know how the config files work, I've been messing with this game a long time buddy... yet this is the first time I've encountered an issue regarding cloud/saves. Apparently I'm the only one too since I get no results from Google about this specific problem.

If its not cloud then why did this instantly occur literally after disabling that? Explain since you know so much more than me apparently, lol

Which is why I questioned you when you said steam has cloud saves for this.

Do you have any mods installed?
Jatts Jan 13, 2018 @ 9:25am
I did have mods yes, but atm they are all completely removed and gone. Same results. Also I did not install anything new either. Only earlier I was playing the game as normal and noticed old saves kept reappearing so I thought that maybe it was cloud related so I decided "well maybe i'll just turn it off, that cant hurt if it doesnt work right?" well I guess I was wrong, but again it did remove those saves like I had wanted lol...

Try deleting the entire Jedi Academy folder in steam common or moving it out of there to desktop.

Once that is done verify integrity of game cache and see if it redownloads any of your old stuff.
Jatts Jan 13, 2018 @ 9:30am
Alright... I'll try that next specifically, we'll see what it does. As for the mods, to specify im the one who removed it. I zipped it all up and stuck it somewhere completely seperate.

EDIT: Btw I just jumped into MP and its even worse... its all black and it messed up my desktop resolution and I had to force it to quit after spending 5min trying to regain control again. I have no idea what this setting did but w/e it did it ♥♥♥♥♥♥ things up badly.. tbh I really hate cloud technology and this is why... *facepalm* All this because all I wanted was to simply delete unwanted saves, but I guess that's no longer allowed in the modern age of technology.

Okay so.... 100% deleted/moved the entire Jedi Academy folder and also double checked to make sure nothing was located in Documents either... verified integrity and the game went back to default settings as expected... then I re-added my autoexec commands (for my higher resolution and previous settings) and it flat out completely ignores it... in fact it ignores all execs. Whether I add it to launch options or execute it manually in the game, it just wont budge and fix itself... it wont change at all. I have zero idea why its doing this, and now its not doing this regardless if cloud is checked on or off, same results. This is completely mind boggling and I'm extremely frustrated right now... so atm I deleted the folder and uninstalled the game altogether and currently redownloading this.... at this point its the last thing left I can do now.

This makes no sense, 100% literally the one and only one thing I did was uncheck that cloud setting... that is all I did and now theres no going back for some reason. I've messed with this game for years and have fixed many issues regarding bugs, mods, and servers, yet this time I have no idea what to do.

Select then right click the jaconfig and jampconfig one at a time then go to properties and see if it is set to "read only" if so uncheck it and click apply.
Jatts Jan 13, 2018 @ 10:30am
Nope... they are not set to "read only", just checked. Also one thing I did notice... it can actually change the config files, but the config files cant change the game itself. I can set w/e default settings I'm allowed to within the game itself, but it wont read any config files at all. Its as if its storing its settings somewhere else but I have no idea where or why.

Do you have it installed in two different places?
Jatts Jan 13, 2018 @ 10:34am
Nope, no I do not. Still in the same one area, with all the rest of my Steam games. Nothing located in "Documents" or "My Games". Neither is anything located within "AppData", I looked in there just in case too. Also I'm using Windows 7, just to throw that out there too.

Okay it finished... and nothing. That's it, I guess my game is just f**ked forever now for absolutely no reason, that's nice!

I've never heard of this issue before but this sounds like a steam issue not a problem with JK.
