STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy™

STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy™

NEW SINGLEPLAYER EXPANSION
Hey guys! i've had a couple ideas to pitch for a total conversion of Jedi Academy. Making it open world , with traditional dungeons like vanilla. Essentially Roaming around the Jedi temple with your fellow jedi , picking up missions to go across the galaxy.

The pitch is to have a RPG element to the game in which you increase certain stats like fortitude and max force energy. You start off as a padawn , going on a mission with your master to investigate a sighting of a Sith lord . Since there hasn't been Sith for many hundred years in the galaxy, the council did not give it much thought and had a simple investigation from the claims of pirates/looters who had survived from the boarding of the supposed Sith lord . The wild claims weren't taken seriously due to the nature of their professions and the plea for protection, food ,etc. You begin your investigations on the planet called Ziost, where the pirates had been attacked. The Tutorial would begin at that stage, fighting certain wild creatures to get accustomed to the mechanics of the game.

Unfornately at the end of the tutorial level, you come across such said Sith lord and your master sacrifices himself so you can flee, but not without trying to help first and see your master fall before you. Barely escaping with your life, you encounter one of the Sith lord's Acolytes trying to block you from your ship. Defeating him, you flee to Coruscant to alert the council of the unfortunate events that had transpired. They promote you to Jedi Knight for the vanguishing of the Sith acolyte , and with that your Journey begins.

The Story would pick off with the reveal of a new faction trying to take control of the galaxy ,With the Head being the Sith lord. With the new established Dark empire rising to take control of the galaxy from the republic, it's up to you to bring peace to the galaxy with your fellow Jedi.

I'd very much like this to be a heavily open world game. With important decisions with different outcomes to each. You have different ways to play the game, such as learning from the Masters at the temple. Improving your Lightsaber combat with new forms, better parry chances ,etc. Or focusing on your force abilties to offer better buffs, offensive abilties , or passive abilities overall. you could also look through the library for references to temples and discover ancient tombs with long dead Sith lords to learn from the knowledge they left behind. You could even come back to the Jedi temple to annihilate them all if you are strong enough , or even defeat your Sith rival first to take control of the galaxy in whichever order you desire.

Tell me what you guys think, i'd very much like the modding community to accomplish something so grand.

I think the game would probably have limitations that would prevent something on that scale from being doable but idk. I don't think any JKA modders are on this forum

A nice concept, but it would probably take a whole rewrite of the game engine, as William mentioned.

Just go play the old republic mmo if you want that. Theres a point to the JK series being a lone wolf.

Hi zero... the single player open world is to much, you will never get that in the short or medium term... but... you can roleplay in multiplayer, like a "dinamic" roleplay, this game have a leaning curve that makes jka what it is... so you can do for example an structured training measurement based on maturity levels -midicloria levels- and with expert criteria you can evaluate them and make the people fell that they are leveling up (key for rpg games)... In the roleplay background the same players make the stories and use maps that allows them roleplay, but the story and the will to participate is the key :P ... there are mods that can help also...

I truly wish i had the money to buy the rights for this sort of thing. It's not that difficult to make a game people like!! even the guys who are doing Star Wars Battlefront 2 changed their act according to the consumer's opinion. We need a proper Star Wars game, with proper progression elements that immerse you into the Star Wars universe. That actually makes you a part of it and gets you into any experience you desire. From a simple smuggling operation for the Hutt cartel or an assault on the Sith homeworld to purge the galaxy of evil with your trusty companions. But with dynamic gameplay that actually has a domino effect on the galaxy. Something that's innovative, immersive, and has replayability. With the amount of money circulating the gaming industry, i'm absolutely positive something like this is viable. Which is hilarious considering how Bioware spent over 200 million for overly priced voice actors on The Old Republic MMO

lol and another reason a jedi acedemy sequl would not work is because it is no longer cannon. But it would be great to play as Jaden during the yuzongvong war!

lmfao guys, i'm talking about something 10 times more immersive than just a couple quests to get "dark side points" that don't actually effect your journey later on. Name one thing in that game that has an actual impact with story that involves something dynamic like just having the freedom to draw your lightsaber right then and there in the Jedi temple , to go on a killing spree. Or even to pilot your own ship freely, without load screens or simply even trying to run through a blockade with sheer dumb luck and succeding to break through to defeat the end game boss early. Also son, don't imply what was not said. Perhaps read the last sentence and maybe you'll figure out something ;)

So basicly you want a star wars skyrim? that would be cool but ea is to busy worrying about "is this good for the player" to make it.

Modding this game to do it is infeasible, it would seem, and EA will never make a good SW game so unless some multi-billlionaire wants to buy out Star Wars (which would be extraordinary expensive, especially when you consider that they still have at least 2 more films to make) this isn’t possible. Though it would be pretty sweet, but let’s be honest it would have to be MP

Why would it have to be multiplayer? I'd like a great Star Wars singleplayer game for a change...

Because it would be a great challenge to make thousands or even tens of thousands of unique NPCs

Yeah, no ♥♥♥♥. And i'd like to see a new, original and good Star Wars movie. Also, a million dollars in my bank account would be nice.

It's a beautiful idea.

An open-world RPG with this kind of lightsaber combat... and some character customisation? I'd go nuts on something like that.

The Jedi Academy engine went open-source, and it's pretty old. I think its general requirements wouldn't be too steep, compared to modern games. It could be expanded... maybe?

"Warframe" is open world, "Two Worlds" is open world, the Gothic series is open world... and they're 3rd-person RPGs. They're also more graphically demanding, and the crunchy bits are pretty deep.

It might be easier to mod another engine up the wazoo, or somehow recreate the mechanics in an open-world engine.

Considering the procedural generation of Sublevel Zero, Shadow Warrior 2 or Diablo/Torchlight, I'd be curious to see randomly created environments that could be navigable by Jedi Academy characters. 3D environments, even tiled together like "Warhammer 40,000 Inquisitor -
Martyr." That might work for numerous Jedi quests, in [generated] unexplored places. (Yes, I'm a sucker for the roguelike craze, I admit.)

I was thinking of this idea just a while ago, dude. This would be a heck of a game.

You might want to check out "Mount & Blade: Warband" and their "Star Wars Conquest" mod. The third-person characters, and the melee combat, might be closer to what you're thinking of. It's not as fluid as Jedi Academy, but it's still quite a modding achievement.
