Do you know off hand what lines I'd edit and in what way?
Navigate to base folder but first to get to your “gamedata” folder in JK2 and JKA you must go to your steam library, right click Jedi outcast or Jedi academy, then click properties (located in the context menu), now click the tab titled “Local Files” and then click the box titled "browse local files." If you followed these steps correctly you should see a folder pop up titled "Jedi Outcast" or "Jedi Academy" inside that folder there should be another folder titled "Gamedata" open that by selecting the folder and double clicking or select the folder and press enter key. Now you should see two “.exe” files one titled "jk2sp.exe" and "jk2mp.exe" (for JK2) or "jasp.exe" and "jamp.exe" (for JKA) Once you find them there should be a folder titled "Base" in gamedata open that up and find files titled "jaconfig.cfg" for sp and "jampconfig.cfg" for MP. Do not edit these configs because it will just revert.
Once you find them open wordpad (not notepad) and click the blue button titled "File" click save as "Rich text doc" then direct the save window to the "base" folder. Save the file as a .rtf file but when editing the name of the file name it "autoexec.cfg" (without " " ) Once it is saved there open the file up again and copy then paste this inside of it
seta helpusobi "1"
seta g_sabermorerealistic "2"
seta g_dismemberprobabilities "0"
seta broadsword "1"
seta g_corpseRemovalTime "0"
seta g_dismemberment "3"
Here is a guide to what these do change the numbers inside the " " to what ever you wish but it needs to be in that order.
Quick setting/value reference:
SP:
g_sabermorerealistic //sharpness of lightsaber blade
0 (normal), 1 (higher damage), 2 (cuts parts off when damage is fatal), 3 (even touching the blade kills instantly)
g_dismemberment //how much can get sliced off
0 (nothing), 1 (hands, feet), 2 (hands, feet, arms, legs), 3 (hands, feet, arms, legs, head, torso)
g_dismemberprobabilities //how likely dismemberment is to happen
0 to 100 (the number being the chance in percentage)
g_corpseRemovalTime //dead bodies' disappearance
0 (leave bodies), 1 to 120 (the number seconds after which the bodies will disappear)
broadsword //soft bodies (rag-doll physics)
0 (disabled), 1 (enabled), 2 (enabled and skips death animation)
MP:
g_dismember //disable/enable dismemberment
0 (disabled), 100 (enabled)
cg_dismember //how much can get sliced off
0 (nothing), 1 (hands, feet, arms, legs), 2 (hands, feet, arms, legs, head, torso)
broadsword //soft bodies (rag-doll physics)
0 (disabled), 1 (enabled), 2 (enabled and skips death animation)
After you pasted the strings edit the values and click the purple save floppy at the top left in wordpad. Once you get into game and start up a save it should work if it doesn't open console by using shift + tilde (the key to the left of one on the left side of the keyboard) and type this in /exec autoexec.cfg and it should work.
Thanks a lot for your help but I'm a little confused here. Do I rename both of those files to the same name or just one of them? Also, I'm not a complete noob at this stuff so no need to go into so much hand holding detail when you answer (just trying to save you time and effort), I just didn't know what lines to change or add to the config file. I've edited many config files for various games when modding.
Ok yeah now that you've edited it it's a lot more clear. Also, your version is much better than the first one I found so thank you very much for that. The other version I found made fighting other jedi ridiculously difficult because even a saber passively touching you would kill you. I can't tell you how many times I killed an enemy only to then die myself because his lightaber touched me during the slomo crap lol.
Here. I made a quick little video. Hopefully it helps.

Games have always faced harsher scrutiny than tv or movies because old people who don't understand or like them were in charge of their ratings for the longest time. I'm not sure how true that is anymore though. I mean, I imagine there are quite a few actual gamers on the ESRB board.
