Oh well, It's okay though, I will be fine and continue to make games.
It has still a way to go before breaking the 1k barrier and it's unfortunate that it was released along side two major titles.
(in joke in sfghq)
w8, alright m8
I couldn't find any news about this game, except for a single piece of news on Sonic Retro (AFTER release, what isn't good for building hype). It wouldn't be much better without those big titles.
You could abuse hype for Sonic Mania and use this game as an apetizer for that. You could also abuse hype for Freedom Planet 2, because this game is quite similar in terms of gameplay. You could even abuse DLC for Shovel Knight (retro games in focus) and lack of Megaman X games these days.
You could spam review copies to news sites and YouTube reviewers (especially popular for reviews of Sonic). You could spam some copies to let's players.
At least it isn't too late to spam free copies, but you lost your chance for initial hype, which you could build for years.
I knew about this game only because I love your Sonic fangames. Majority of people don't know about them. You made a game that's competing for my number 1 spot of the best games I have ever played, but the release was so quiet I almost didn't notice. And I think you screwed up your kickstarter in a similar way. I would contribute if I knew about it and I found out about it was too late, I'm sure more people would if they knew about it.
It's time to focus on marketing of Spark. You can still save yourself from this mess. In the meanwhile, don't repeat your mistakes for your next game and don't ignore marketing.
Agreed!
Actually I want a mode where the game constantly changes your powers at random every minute. That would be really cool and interesting.
