NEW Structure Deck EX: Secret of Magicians!

The ultimate wizard is back, and he brought with him his apprentice! Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl combine their powers in the new ace monster, The Dark Magicians, featured in Structure Deck EX: Secret of Magicians!

Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl aren’t included as part of Structure Deck EX: Secret of Magicians, but you’ll receive them as a bonus each time you purchase the Deck and can add them into the Deck yourself. You’ll probably want to do so, since many of the new cards in the Structure Deck EX work with them.

The new ace monster included in the Deck is The Dark Magicians – A Level 8 Fusion Monster that combines Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl with any other Spellcaster-Type monster. The Dark Magicians has 2800 ATK and an effect that lets you draw a card once per turn if a Spell/Trap Card or effect is activated. If the drawn card is a Spell or Trap Card, you can immediately Set it. Plus, if that card was a Trap Card or a Quick-Play Spell Card, you can activate it during the same turn it’s Set! If The Dark Magicians is destroyed, its other effect will activate! This effect lets you Special Summon a Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl from your hand, Deck, and/or Graveyard, allowing you to fortify your field!

Although you could Fusion Summon The Dark Magicians in the traditional way using Polymerization, the new Secrets of Dark Magic Quick-Play Spell Card may be a better option. Secrets of Dark Magic lets you Fusion Summon a Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck using monsters from your hand or field, including Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl as Fusion Material. Alternatively, you can use Secrets of Dark Magic to Ritual Summon a Ritual Monster from your hand by Tributing monsters from your hand or field, including Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl, whose total Levels equal or exceed the Level of the Ritual Monster. Secrets of Dark Magic has the flexibility of being able to Summon Fusion Monsters like The Dark Magicians and Ritual Monsters like Magician of Chaos, while also packing the advantage of being a Quick-Play Spell Card that can Summon those monsters during the Battle Phase or during your opponent’s turn.

The new Magical Dimension Quick-Play Spell Card has a powerful effect that can only be used if you control a Spellcaster. Magical Dimension lets you target a monster you control, and then Tribute that target and Special Summon a Spellcaster from your hand. Next, it destroys a monster on the field. This effect lets you trade in one of your weaker Spellcasters for a Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl while taking down the most threatening monster that your opponent has.

The Piercing the Darkness Continuous Spell Card also synergizes with the Dark Magician. While Piercing the Darkness is face-up on the field, you’ll get to draw a card if you Normal or Special Summon a non-Token Normal Monster like the Dark Magician. In addition, when an attack is declared involving an opponent’s monster and a monster you control that is a Level 5 or higher Normal Monster or a monster that you used a Normal Monster like the Dark Magician to Summon, you can increase the ATK of your monster by the ATK of the monster it’s battling. This will ensure that it is always stronger than the opponent’s monster!

Structure Deck EX: Secret of Magicians gives Duelists a new way to play Decks built around the Dark Magician. The new cards also pair well with the new Magician’s Magic Skill. This Skill lets you Normal Summon or Set your Dark Magician without Tributing any monsters! In addition, this Skill comes with two effects that can each be activated once per Duel. The first effect lets you return a Dark Magician Girl, Magical Dimension, or Magic Cylinder from your hand to your Deck to add Dimension Conjurer to your hand from outside of your Deck and add a Dark Magician Girl to your hand. Dimension Conjurer will grab you Magical Dimension if it’s Summoned, and also has the power to draw cards. The second effect of this Skill simply lets you add a Secrets of Dark Magic from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand if you control a Dark Magician. This will make it easier to Fusion and Ritual Summon powerful monsters like The Dark Magicians.

The Magician’s Magic Skill also includes a couple of drawbacks. First, while using the Skill, you’re only allowed to Special Summon DARK Spellcaster-Type monsters. Second, you can’t Special Summon monsters from your hand or Graveyard during your opponent’s turn, except Level 6 monsters. Fortunately, a true master of magicians can navigate around these drawbacks and achieve victory!
