NEW Challenge Deck (Gaia the Fierce Knight)!

The RUSH DUEL Challenge Campaign is going on right now in Yu-Gi-Oh! DUEL LINKS! During this Campaign, anyone who visits the PvP Arena will receive a special Challenge Deck built around Gaia the Fierce Knight! Check out the special cards included in this Challenge Deck and the strategies it contains that will help you reach the top ranks in the PvP Arena!

In addition to several reprints, the new Challenge Deck contains brand-new cards that allow Decks built around Gaia to be competitive in the PvP Arena. These new cards include the Legend Spell Card Polymerization (RUSH), 3 copies of Change Slime – Dragon Champion Mode, and 3 copies of Battletested Gaia the Fierce Knight in the Main Deck. Two brand-new Fusion Monsters are also included in the Extra Deck: Swift Gaia the Dragon Champion and the Limited 1 Gaia, Conqueror of Champions.

The main strategy of the Deck is to Fusion Summon these two new Fusion Monsters. The other new cards available in the Challenge Deck will help you do that.

The payoff is huge for Fusion Summoning the two new monsters. Gaia, Conqueror of Champions is a Level 7 Magical Knight Fusion Monster that you can Summon by fusing together Gaia the Fierce Knight and Curse of Dragon. You can activate its effect during your Main Phase by shuffling 1 monster from your Graveyard into the Deck, except for a Magical Knight Type monster. Then, you can choose between two different effects: Let Gaia, Conqueror of Champions attack directly during the turn, or destroy a Spell/Trap Card on your opponent’s field. With 2600 ATK, using the first effect will let you close out a Duel while your opponent is low on Life Points. While your opponent’s Life Points are higher, the second effect will help you by destroying an opponent’s back row card so that Gaia, Conqueror of Champions can more easily destroy an opponent’s monster and help you take control of the Duel.

Swift Gaia the Dragon Champion is a Level 7 Fusion Monster with 2600 ATK that you can Summon by fusing together a Warrior Type monster with 2100 DEF (like Gaia the Fierce Knight) and Curse of Dragon. The new Challenge Deck contains 3 copies of it in the Extra Deck. Swift Gaia the Dragon Champion’s effect can be used by sending the top card of your Deck to the Graveyard, and it allows your Swift Gaia the Dragon Champion to inflict piercing damage for the turn. In addition, if you have no cards in your hand, it lets you draw a card. Swift Gaia the Dragon Champion can win you a Duel by piercing through an opponent’s Defense Position monster and is able to give you an additional card to work with along the way.

Change Slime – Dragon Champion Mode, Polymerization (RUSH), and Battletested Gaia the Fierce Knight all help to Fusion Summon these two monsters. Change Slime – Dragon Champion Mode is a Level 4 monster whose effect lets you Fusion Summon by sending a Level 7 Warrior Type monster and a Level 5 Dragon Type monster from your hand and/or field to the Graveyard as materials. That means it can Summon Gaia, Conqueror of Champions or Swift Gaia the Dragon Champion. Polymerization (RUSH) also lets you Summon a Fusion Monster by using materials from your hand and field, so you can use a Level 7 Gaia monster in your hand as a Fusion Material without Summoning it to the field first.

Battletested Gaia the Fierce Knight is a Level 7 monster with 2300 ATK and 2100 DEF just like Gaia the Fierce Knight, but it also packs a powerful effect that makes it easier to Summon Gaia, Conqueror of Champions and Swift Gaia the Dragon Champion. By sending the top card of your Deck to your Graveyard, you can activate Battletested Gaia’s effect to change its name to Gaia the Fierce Knight and then Fusion Summon by shuffling your Battletested Gaia from your field and 1 monster from your field or Graveyard into the Deck as materials. Even though it’s a Level 7 monster, you can also Tribute Summon Battletested Gaia the Fierce Knight by Tributing 1 face-up Level 5 or higher monster.

The new cards in the Challenge Deck work well alongside the new Chivalrous Celerity Archive Skill. You can use this Skill if all monsters with 1600 or more ATK in your Deck are monsters with 2300 ATK and 2100 DEF and/or Level 5 or lower Dragon Type Normal Monsters. Its effect lets you send a Normal Monster from your Deck to your Graveyard and make a face-up Level 5 or higher monster on your field gain 600 ATK until the end of the turn. Then, once per Duel, you can also add a Normal Monster and/or Polymerization (RUSH) from your Deck and/or Graveyard to your hand.

In addition to simply increasing the ATK of your biggest monsters by an extra 600, the Chivalrous Celerity Archive Skill will send Curse of Dragon to the Graveyard so that you can immediately Fusion Summon after using the effect of Battletested Gaia the Fierce Knight. It’ll also give you a few additional cards when you need them, including a Legend Spell that will facilitate a Fusion Summon.
