I play casual duels rn and see a lot of "players" with self destructive decks that only make them lose hp and lose the duel. (With no monsters in them)
Are these "players" even playing or am I running into bots rn?
Is botting even allowed?

They're people running farming decks.

They're bots. 99% of casual players are bot farming. They usually have 3 kinds of decks:
1. The self destruct decks
2. The decks that spam that castle of stromberg card
3. Deck that spams power of the guardians or something similar

Bots that never get banned because low iq people continue to buy structure decks, selection boxes and more.
As long as the money flow they won't ever fix their thrash servers or ban the haackers / bots.

don't think it's against the games rules... if it is nothing's been done about it in years.

As other's stated, these suicide decks are ran for farming skills and there is no rule stating you can't lose on purpose. Hell even Konami made a card named "True Exodia" which causes the owner to lose if they summon it.

Will love to see where this 99% is coming from other than a guess. To say there's only 99% that are bots is to discourage players who want to play casual. It is to say all you play against are AI. This is a very huge misconception many players here have. Its true it may feel like all you play is AI since you can't really see the person on the other side.

Pay no attention to those who want to spread false information about casual mode. Their goal is to make others hate casual mode by labeling them as bots.

There's plenty of players who're legit playing casual mode every day.

I've personally ran into a mix of suicide and burn damage decks. Those are trickery to face. and to detect. I've also ran into many decks who misplayed. I've also face a deck that ran suicide, deck destruction, inflicting damage, and god like cards. They have a card or something that allows them to play even though all of trier cards are gone.

In any modes their are some degree of bots. How much is very hard to say since detecting the exact number is near impossible to do. No one is here has that answer. Be wary of those who proclaim they do.

.......

How?

They literally kill themselves FOR you.
How can they possibly be tricky to face?

..Nobody is hating on casual mode. We're hating on the fact the devs let bots clog up casual mode.
