New Predaplant Cards in the Starving Venom Speed Duel Main BOX!
New Predaplant Cards in the Starving Venom Speed Duel Main BOX!

The recently released Starving Venom Speed Duel Main BOX contains cards that improve a variety of different Speed Duel Decks including “Ghostrick,” “Cyber Dragon,” ”Darklord,” and “True Draco.” One of the themes that got the biggest boost from the new Speed Duel Main BOX is “Predaplant” – a Fusion-based strategy that relies on DARK Plants to Summon big Fusion Monsters like Starving Venom Fusion Dragon. Check out some of the new cards in the Starving Venom Main BOX that help bring Predaplant Decks to a new competitive level!

“Predaplant” Decks are all about Fusion Summoning big monsters, and new cards in the Starving Venom Speed Duel Main BOX make doing that easier than ever before. The new Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio, for example, is a Level 3 monster that lets you send a monster from your hand to your Graveyard if it’s Summoned in order to Special Summon a “Predaplant” monster from your Deck. Special Summon Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra, and you’ll be able to use its effect to add a “Polymerization” Spell Card or “Fusion” Spell Card from your Deck to your hand. Then you’ll have everything you need to perform a Fusion Summon! You can also choose to Summon Predaplant Chlamydosundew instead, since its effect lets you Fusion Summon a DARK monster without using a Fusion Spell Card.

Predaplant Byblisp is another powerful addition to the Predaplant strategy that is included in the Starving Venom Speed Duel Main BOX. Predaplant Byblisp is a Level 1 monster that lets you add a “Predaplant” monster from your Deck to your hand if it’s sent to the Graveyard. Send it to the Graveyard by using it as a Fusion Material and you’ll be able to activate its effect! Byblisp also has another effect that works with a second key aspect of the “Predaplant” strategy – placing Predator Counters on your opponent’s monsters.

There are lots “Predaplant” cards that can put Predator Counters on an opponent’s monsters. As long as there’s a Predator Counter on a monster on the field, you can Special Summon Predaplant Byblisp from your Graveyard, but banish it when it leaves the field. Predaplant Byblisp is just one of several “Predaplant” monsters that lets you benefit from placing Predator Counters on your opponent’s monsters.

Predator Counters reduce the Levels of the monsters they’re on to 1 and make them vulnerable to certain effects of “Predaplant” cards. Predaplant Drosophyllum Hydra from the new Starving Venom Speed Duel Main BOX, for example, can be Special Summoned from your hand or Graveyard by Tributing a monster on either player’s field with a Predator Counter. Put a “Predator Counter” on your opponent’s strongest monster, and you’ll be able to Tribute it to Summon Drosophyllum Hydra.

At the heart of the “Predaplant” strategy is one of Yuri’s ace monsters – Starving Venom Fusion Dragon! Starving Venom Fusion Dragon is an UR monster with 2800 ATK in the new Starving Venom Speed Duel Main BOX. You can Summon it by fusing together two DARK monsters on the field. Since all of the Predaplants are DARK, they’re easy to use to Summon Starving Venom Fusion Dragon. If Starving Venom Fusion Dragon is Fusion Summoned, you can increase its ATK by the ATK of a Special Summoned monster your opponent controls until the end of the turn. Plus, once per turn, you can activate its effect to target a Level 5 or higher monster your opponent controls, and then your Starving Venom Fusion Dragon will copy that monster’s name and effects! Finally, if Starving Venom Fusion Dragon is destroyed after it’s Fusion Summoned, you can destroy all Special Summoned monsters your opponent controls.

Starving Venom Fusion Dragon can take down an opponent’s strongest monsters and is able to copy the best one’s effect. Other powerful Fusion Monsters that were previously available in Yu-Gi-Oh! DUEL LINKS or introduced with the release of Yuri as a playable Legendary Duelist help to round out the Fusion strategy of the Deck. These Fusion Monsters include Predaplant Chimerafflesia, Predaplant Dragostapelia, and Predaplant Ambulomelides.

In addition to powerful new cards that work with the “Predaplant” theme, the addition of Yuri as a Legendary Duelist introduced the powerful new Starving Venom Invasion Skill to Yu-Gi-Oh! DUEL LINKS! This Skill has two different effects that can each be used once per Duel if your Extra Deck contains Starving Venom Fusion Dragon.

The first of these two effects lets you reveal two cards from your hand that are “Predap” cards, “Polymerization” Spell Cards, and/or “Fusion” Spell Cards, and then add a Polymerization from outside of your Deck and a “Predap” card from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand. This will instantly set up a Fusion Summon! The second of these two effects can be used if only your opponent controls a monster, and allows you to place a Predator Counter on a face-up monster your opponent controls.

“Predaplant” Decks are now better than ever before, and they’re a strong pick to use in the KC Cup. If you’re a fan of Yuri, “Predaplant” monsters, or Fusion Summoning in general, be sure to try out a “Predaplant” Deck!
