Valkyries Take Flight in the Arena of Sanctuary Mini BOX!
The latest Mini BOX contains many of the cards used by Zigfried von Schroeder in the original animated Yu-Gi-Oh! series: the Valkyries! Zigfried used these monsters to take quick victories after swarming the field with his Ride of the Valkyries Spell Card. Unfortunately, Zigfried’s Ride of the Valkyries Spell Card – which allows a Duelist to Special Summon all Valkyries from his or her hand at once – isn’t currently available in Duel Links. But that doesn’t mean you can’t use Valkyries in competitive Dueling! Check out what they can do!

Even without Ride of the Valkyries, Valkyrie Decks excel at filling up the field with monsters. Since all of the Valkyries are Fairy-type monsters, you can use the Continuous Spell Card Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen from the Valhalla Calling Main BOX to Special Summon one of them from your hand each turn while you control no monsters. Many of those Valkyries have effects that activate if they’re Summoned.

One of the best Valkyries to Special Summon with Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen is the Level 9 Valkyrie Sigrun. Sigrun has 2200 ATK, 2400 DEF, and an effect that lets you Special Summon a Level 8 or lower Valkyrie from your hand or Graveyard if it’s Summoned. If you Special Summon Valkyrie Sigrun with Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen, its effect will let you Special Summon a second Valkyrie to the field before Normal Summoning a third. Sigrun also has an effect that lets you Special Summon it from your hand by sending a face-up Spell or Trap Card you control to the Graveyard. That means you can Special Summon it even if you already have a monster on your field and are unable to activate the effect of your face-up Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen.

One of the most powerful Valkyrie monsters to Special Summon with the effect of Valkyrie Sigrun is Valkyrie Erda. Erda has 2000 ATK and 2200 DEF. While you control a Valkyrie Erda that was Special Summoned by the effect of another Valkyrie monster like Valkyrie Sigrun, all face-up monsters your opponent controls lose 1000 ATK. Plus, while Erda is on your field, any card destroyed by battle or by card effect that would be sent to your opponent’s Graveyard is banished instead. Special Summoning Erda to your field with Sigrun’s effect will not only pile over 4000 Attack Points onto your field, but it’ll also weaken your opponent’s monsters and counter any strategy your opponent may have been using that relied on his or her monsters being sent from the field to the Graveyard.

The Level 5 Valkyrie Zweite also has strong synergy with Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen and Valkyrie Sigrun. If Valkyrie Zweite is Summoned, it destroys an opponent’s monster. This is a simple but powerful effect. Plus, after Valkyrie Zweite battles, you can target a Continuous Spell Card in your Graveyard and add it to your hand. This allows it to retrieve a Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen that was destroyed by your opponent or sent to your Graveyard to Special Summon Valkyrie Sigrun.

The low-Level Valkyrie monsters – Valkyrie Dritte and Valkyrie Vierte – have powerful effects that improve the consistency of Valkyrie Decks. Valkyrie Dritte lets you add a Valkyrie card from your Deck to your hand if it’s Summoned, and Valkyrie Vierte lets you Special Summon any Valkyrie from your Deck when it’s destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard. Vierte also has an effect that lets you excavate cards from the top of your Deck during your Main Phase, equal to the number of other Valkyrie monsters you control, to add an excavated Normal Spell or Trap Card to your hand.

The Valkyrie monsters all have cool synergies with one another, allowing the Valkyrie Deck to function even without Zigfried’s signature Ride of the Valkyries Spell Card. Other Valkyrie monsters in the Arena of Sanctuary Mini BOX, like Valkyrie Brunhilde, Valkyrie Sechste, and Valkyrie Funfte, also have synergies within the theme. There are also some good Spell and Trap Cards for Valkyries in the Arena of Sanctuary Mini BOX, like Final Light, Valkyrie’s Embrace, and Apple of Enlightenment.

There are lots of different cards for Valkyrie Decks in the Arena of Sanctuary Mini BOX, so you probably can’t fit all of them into your Valkyrie Deck. Which ones do you think are strongest and work best when using Valkyries in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links?

Funny how Konami promotes "Karma Cut" for Japan but not for America.

well, at leats its a unique archetype, i might try it out something, though, the part about "Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen" was helpful i guess, good to see some synergy there with other cards being talked about :RCHeart: i might also use "Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen" for other fairy cards potentially, if i can get one AND use it appropriately...

man, i wish we had an advertisement like this but for V-to-Z.... theres so much random support for em, you got:

Jade Knight can be used as an alternative searcher

ghosts from the past
(i think thats the right card, good for banishing Jade Knight/s and B Buster Drakes after usage, even though Jade Knight isn't good to banish, it always helps throw away other monsters though it isn't too useful due to a lack of synergy besides searching...)

cross breed

fountain in the sky

frontline base

union scramble

roll out!

chaos zone
(especially chaos zone, works so well with the banishing part)

machina armoured unit

machine assembly line
(for some alternative recovery)

B Buster Drake and so on....

such a varied archetype that sadly fell out of relevance.... oh well, they'll be a powerful rank 4 engine with extra fusion options :steamhappy: :RCHeart: hopefully....

Valkyries are looking very good. I saw a few of them in the KC Cup.

So they suck, thanks for clarifying it
