Normal summon a level 7 monster without tributing

I need help with one thing. In a KC-Cup match my opponent normal summoned a level 7 Elemental Heroes monster without any tributes. No special summon. No skill activated. How is this possible? I thought you needed at least 2 tributes for a level 7 monster to normal summon. I couldn't normal summon my Dark Magician in the same duel without any tributes or special summons. I have seen this in other duels too. Someone that can help me?

Do you got a replay? there are several skills that allow Jaden or Jaden/Yubel to summon their ace monster Elemental Hero Neos without tribute similar to the handful of normal summon Blue-Eyes/Dark Magician skills Yugi and Kaiba have..

As for you OP if you really want to summon Dark Magician without tribute I'd say get either the skill Magician's Magic or Battle Chronical just note that these skills that let you "cheat out" ace monsters tend to come with heavy restrictions like locking you into archetypes or certain monster types/attributes.

Yeah. I did save it. Missed that there was a Skill activated in the beginning of the duel that I missed. "Battle Chronicle" was the skill. Didn't know it could do that. Still pretty new to this game. Thanks for answering.

Yeah I don't blame you I've been playing this game for 4 years and sometimes seeing my opponent activate a crazy skill I think to myself "wait he can just do that??" but that is just the sort of game Duel Links is.

It's getting worse. I had a KC cup match against someone using Antinomy, where on turn 1 he was able to get out a 12* synchro 5000 ATK monster that has an ability that blocks summons, so if you manage to get first turn you are guaranteed a win since the other person can't do anything to defend yourself. Can't remember the name of the card, but it either needs to go on the ban list or needs some SERIOUS errata so that the summon block doesn't kick in until their next turn. Guy apparently had it down to an art, as they had a 19 win streak going.

4000 ATK, its called TG Halberd Cannon and no, the summon negate is once per turn, its a big body but unless your opponent has backrow, it can be dealt with

Typo on my part, but your point being? It's insane that they can get a 12* boss monster out on TURN ONE, unless you happen to have an extra special summon tucked up your sleeve, you're buggered.

Use a Meklord deck, summon Infinity Core and when if it gets negated and destroyed, you can then special summon a Meklord Emperor card that absorbs Synchro units. If they don't have a backrow to deal with this, they're getting an OTK. (I usually summon Wisel Emperor when this happens, so it's 2.500 + 4.000). If you don't use this niche deck (understandably), use a card that either negates their effect, destroys it, etc.

If you don't have any of those.. Prepare for the next match I guess? ┐⁠(⁠´⁠ー⁠｀⁠)⁠┌

Getting one 12* on the board in one turn is just how Yu-Gi-Oh works, and that's still pretty low without considering skills. Ogdoadics are pack filler for the Sky Striker box and they can get out 2 8* bodies that punish GY revival and drawing cards in one turn. Aromages can get out a 3400 Attack piercing monster by normal summoning twice in one turn. Ra decks can just clear the board before bringing out a 4000 attack monster to attack for game and searches Monster Reborn. None of these decks are meta viable. You just have to run good spell cards and maybe hand traps to disrupt your opponent's combo so they don't do all the things that make TG Halberd Cannon happen.
