Card Ruling Help. Barrel Behind The Door vs Crop Circles.

I need someone that know about the card ruling for these 2 cards.

My question is would it work or backfire?

I did my research on Barrel Behind The Door that not all damage would work to re-fire it back
but i did some checking though it does work on some cards.

But wasnt sure if Crop Circle would work with it.
It states on the card text that.

"Send any number of monsters from your side of the field to the Graveyard to activate this card.
Select from your Deck 1 "Alien" monster whose Level is equal to the total Levels of the sent
monsters, and Special Summon it. If you fail to find a monster to Special Summon, You take 2000 Damage."

Anyone mind giving this a crack at it? if possible.

Pretty sure that Barrel Behind the Door cannot be used on Crop Circles since the damage is conditional, aka not guaranteed.

That's what i was assuming had to get a second opinion to be sure about it lol Dont want to waste Gems on 1 card that wouldn't work with it. I am aware there a UR card that work well with Barrel but Pull rates never works for me lol

Hi, Official TCG Judge here:

The card text for Barrel Behind the Door checks for if a card effect would deal damage to you, not if the card could deal damage. Crop Circles' damage portion is a secondary effect upon resolution and could deal damage, but it is not guaranteed. Therefor, Barrel will not trigger.

The last part of the text is a condition which is not that inflicts effect damage, therefore not starting a chain to which barrel behind the door can chain to.
