Deck Update: Galaxy-Eyes Photon!

New cards in the Heart of Xyz Mini BOX and Kite Tenjo’s new Xyz Galaxy Skill have given new life to Decks built around the iconic Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon! Check out everything new that has catapulted Galaxy-Eyes Photon Decks into the competitive PvP Arena!

The new Xyz Galaxy Skill works as long as your Main Deck contains at least 10 “Galaxy” or “Photon” cards and no monsters other than “Galaxy” or “Photon” monsters. In exchange for this hefty restriction, the Xyz Galaxy Skill brings a lot of power. Once per turn, you can send a “Galaxy” monster from your hand or Deck to your Graveyard to activate one of two effects. The first effect lets you add Number 90: Galaxy-Eyes Photon Lord to your Extra Deck from outside of your Deck. The second effect lets you send a “Galaxy” card from your hand to your Graveyard. In exchange, for the rest of the turn, if you Xyz Summon a “Galaxy-Eyes” Xyz Monster with 4000 or more ATK, you can Xyz Summon it simply by using a Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon you control as the Xyz Material one time only.

This Skill works with a lot of cards that Galaxy-Eyes Photon Duelists already had at their disposal, as well as cards that were just released in the Heart of Xyz Mini BOX. First off, while both of the effects granted by the Xyz Galaxy Skill are powerful, the ability to send a “Galaxy” monster from your hand or Deck to your Graveyard to activate one of the effects can be even stronger. It lets you immediately send Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon to your Graveyard so that you can Special Summon it back to the field. The new Galaxy Knight, Galaxy-Eyes Cloudragon, and Galaxy Zero all have effects that can Special Summon Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon from your Graveyard. Older cards like Monster Reborn and Shuffle Reborn can also help to Special Summon Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon to the field after it’s in the Graveyard. Secondly, with Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon easily Summoned to the field, it becomes a breeze to use the Skill’s first effect and Xyz Summon the Rank 8 Number 90: Galaxy-Eyes Photon Lord or use the second effect to instantly Xyz Summon a powerful monster from the Extra Deck like the new Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon.

Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon is a Rank 8 monster with 4000 ATK, which allows it to pair perfectly with the Xyz Galaxy Skill. By using the second effect of the Skill, you can Xyz Summon it by using a single Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon as an Xyz Material. You can also Xyz Summon Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon by using any “Galaxy-Eyes” Xyz Monster you control as an Xyz Material. Not only can Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon convert its Equip Spells into Xyz Materials, but it can also give up an Xyz Material once per turn to target and destroy a face-up card on your opponent’s field.

Other cards in the Heart of Xyz Mini BOX help to improve the consistency of Decks built around Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon by making it easier to Xyz Summon. Galaxy Expedition and Accellight Special Summon monsters from the Deck, while the Level 4 Galaxy Wizard can transform itself into a Level 8 monster and is able to Tribute itself to get you any “Galaxy” card from your Deck. The powerful Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon, which you can easily Xyz Summon by using a Rank 8 “Galaxy-Eyes” Xyz Monster you control as material, also adds strength to the Deck since it can destroy any card on the field once per turn, and lets you Special Summon Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon from your Graveyard if your opponent destroys it.
