You can also duel legendary duelists over and over again hoping to get lucky!
Duplicates actually do count... in fact the game even counts prismatic cards that you break down towards total (though I don't actually recommend that.)
I got the 100 achievement with 94 different prismatic cards. (6 that I had scrapped, because I thought they did not count-- as I had been told.)
Today I have 215 total Prismatic cards... 174 unique ones without duplicates. Not only did the duplicates count towards the the 100 prismatic achievement, but also the 200 icon that they give you.

Best advise I have is STOP focusing on the number of prismatic cards you have. The climb to 100 was a pain because I was constantly focused on how many more I needed. Going from 100 to 215 felt a lot faster, because I honestly did not care about the number anymore. I was just trying to upgrade specific cards for potential use in Ai farming decks (+200 for each prismatic card played adds if your deck is full of them)
It took me roughly 200 hours to get 100 Prismatics and unfortunately that's probably an average time. Apart from logging in and completing events that give prismatics the only thing left to do is upgrade glossy SR/UR's into Prismatics using the Card Trader.
