LOL I never recorded my Duelist ID because I was never going to transfer my data off of my pc. APPARENTLY every person is SUPPOSED to make an account through duel links with konami to have an account with Konami incase data recovery is necessary. At no point does the game tell anybody this, or even suggest it. Even though I can accurately provide literally every other piece of information required, I will probably never get my account back because I don't know the 9 digit code associated with my account. Great. My only hope is that a friend can open the game and see my Duelist ID. Hopefully he didnt un-install the game as well............. What an actual scam

I cant even find my old account in the "find friends" tab.. so I cant get my id. pretty much all my friends have already quit the game so no getting my ID that way either.. what a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scam not TELLING the players they need to make an account with konami incase this happens. Konami is a predatory company. even If i get my account back, never giving them money again

The whole optional backup thing via Konami ID is indeed cumbersome and unintuitive, but, come on, you didn't even write down your Duelist ID. Did you really think that the save data for an online f2p game would be stored locally on your PC? You did notice that you don't type in any username/password at the start screen, right? I don't know what were you thinking/hoping for...

??? I assumed most of the save data was server sided or at least protected by steam cloud? No I didnt think all essential save info would be saved on my pc, cause thats not how most online games work? the Konami ID is explained to be only for data transfer? since there is no password, that is what the ID is for, to associate data with different IP's. If the data was entirely saved to my pc, then why would RE-INSTALLING the game delete all account associated save game data? no other game does that. and again. the Konami ID is ONLY DESCRIBED AS BEING FOR TRANSFERING DATA BETWEEN PLATFORMS. which has nothing to do with re-installing the game on the same platform.

The fact that it is possible to recover an accuont with an ID from Konami, indicates that the info is saved with Konami, because they can recover it. YET, re-installing the game wipes all saved game info.

Explain that sir. This is a scam :) If I had none this was even possible I would never have played the game.

if you were playing on phone and pc with the same account you couldve avoided all of this. know your game and the options you have for next time.

The clue with this game is that it is technically still a mobile game. Though the steam version does have some exclusives (like the battlelog) it is still a mobile game and therefore needs "extra backup" as almost every single game nowadays does. In case of this game, it is the Konami ID since they apparently did not want to opt-in to Gamecenter / Google Play or similar. Always back up your mobile games.

dude, the first thing you must think of when play big game like duel links is"What will happen to my account if my device got lost, stolen, or broken?"
it is natural that our devices may got lost, stolen, broken, and so on. So it is your problem to think of this question, you even didn't backed-up your game ID.
Konami already provieded an easy way to back-up your data and sync it with all of your devices. just try to search next time.

Why would you presumably spend money on virtual cards and then not make an effort to safeguard your account?

Assuming Steam Cloud would back up the data without checking if the game supported it was your fatal flaw.

Sucks to be you

The battle log isn't exclusive to PC, mobile only has room for one screen off display, while the PC has room for 3. The log is accessible through settings mid duel.

Tbh you'd expect a Steam game from an experienced company like Komoney to store your data somewhere without requiring you to have a backup by an external account. Mobile version - yes. But Steam version? Should actually use the cloud and also have some acc data stored offline

There is a reason behind this that Komoney didn't go into.

Like other mobile games, Duel Links requires you to manually put in a save file stored in the cloud. Steam's cloud does this automatically which I don't believe the game would properly handle since it redownloads all of the data regardless if the save was put in or not.

This game started as a mobile game and was later ported to PC, hence the cloud save prioritization and handling. If it was the other way around, then things might be different. Might.
