Start by putting some counter-trap in your deck to deal with Râ : had at least 3, one for effect and two for special summonning. Then, hope you have at least one to counter the special summonning of Râ in your first hand AND start the duel. Or, if you are second. the card to counter its effect.
Got it like that and my deck is not full of effects like a sylvan deck.
Played something small on turn 1 and a wall of disruption. He pays 1000 life to take out the face-down monster, activate the wall when he attacks. In both times it worked, he had a Disciple of Ra with 0 atk on field. Kaibaman then Blue Eyes, attack the disciple with the dragon and GG. Worked 2 times.
In the other match I won he went first and summoned Ra. Threw down an exploder dragon on it and the following turns were like a normal game.
To my surprise I won 3 of 4 duels (lost the first and then 3 wins on a row, that's a miracle). But you need a lucky first hand to do this, and more luck to do this 3 times.
sent Malik into the shadows in the 3rd turn in my second try
