I played this already, it's a phone game getting a PC port. It's a collectible card game, which I love, but it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TERRIBLE for one big reason: You literally must spend big money on it to keep up.

People love to ♥♥♥♥♥ about Hearthstone, but in that game if you want a high rarity card you have plenty of time to save up and craft one. Any card an opponent can use against you can be crafted and used by you.

This isn't the case in Duel Links. Your opponents WILL have cards you can't possibly access, and even have characters (which come with OP abilities) that you can't access either. Sets cycle, where every once and a while you can no longer buy that set... but you can ALWAYS use ANY cards in the competitive mode, meaning if you don't unpack 3X of each OP card from a set before it cycles you're permanently at a disadvantage until the set comes back (if it ever does).

On top of this, you can't craft most cards. If you really want Sphere Kuribo (which is a top tier card), you MUST unpack it (before it cycles out...) because you can't craft that card.

Worst of all, it's not free-to-play viable. You can earn points to get packs by leveling up characters and your "player", but there's a limited number of levels and eventually you'll max out everyone and no longer be able to get packs outside of the quests the game gives you, which give practically nothing as a reward.

SKIP THIS GAME UNLESS YOU HAVE BIG MONEY TO DROP ON IT CONSISTENTLY.

thats bs, its totally f2p viable. thats what rerolls are for.
when i started a few days ago on emulator i did like 2 rerolls, and got a t1 deck ready in little over 1 day, close to hitting dlvl20 in kc on day 2. i have 3 econs, 3 superrush headlongs, 2 walls of disruption, and there are plenty decks you dont even need alot of cards from different boxes. yes sure if you are that sort of player who cant handle not to have EVERYTHING in 1 day, dont play a tcg. its the same with real life yugioh or any other cardgames. but dont ♥♥♥♥♥ around possibly preventing new players to play because of this non f2p crap wich simply isnt true if you know what you do and spend your rescources efficient. also check out the f2p survival guide on reddit helps

ok i am completely F2p and have made king of games a few times, I get gems every day, packs dont rotate, you can buy from any set whenever you want.

Pack dont rotate out in this game at all.. what are you smoking? You can still even buy the pack both sphere Kuriboh and shard of gree both drop in. WHich is Ultimate Rising btw

False, there was a time when the first boxes dissapeared but they've returned and seems like they won't dissapear again.
I'm a F2P player and have 2 or 3 of all staple cards (like sphere kuriboh, mirror wall, floodgate, etc.) and haven`t spent a dollar on them, you only need to get a good use of your gems.
There's no such thing like "character's OP abilities" the meta now is about the you play, not the character you use, so it's true that you can miss some characters but they surely will return and you'll can get them.
It's true that you have Stage and Character level limits, but you will need to play a loooot of time until you reach that limits, and at that time you will probably have most of the staple cards and others you want, and you always have an active event, where you can grind for gems, cards and other prices.
And that's it, the only thing you have to give is time and dedication.

i've been playing since february on my phone and i never spend real money on this, but that doesnt mean your not wrong, if ppl want play just to farm or casual well F2P is the right path but if you want to be competitive or just want the "best deck" well spend some money because as a F2P its gonna be a moment where you can keep up with everyone and when that time comes im gonna leave it. i have completed every character at their max level so every gem and event is a bless xD

1. Boxes dont cycle at all, dont spread misinformation.

2. THE top tier deck in the game (cyber angels) is made primarily from cards that are farmed from an in game duelist and not from packs. f2p is perfectly viable, you just wont have 80 different decks lying around.

There is literally a tier-1 deck that you can build via F2P. Weevil Underwood Burn and Alexis Cyber Angels.

but you definitely must invest a huge amount of time of grinding
F2P here. I only pay for the structure deck and I still manage to create a worthy KOG deck such as: Phoenix, ancient gear, cyber angel, relinquish (with only 2 sonic bird).
and FYI, structure deck isnt a KOG worthy, I bought it when it was on a 50-75% off

This is a load of bs, this game is VERY generous for a f2p TCG game, especially when compared to other free TCG games. There are events every week that give out big rewards and there also good ranked rewards (in which you can get free Super and Ultra Rare cards of your choosing).

Packs dont rotate anymore? I used to play this game when it was new for about 2 months or more, even droped some money to buy the $6 specials 2 times I think. But quit after the packs started to rotate out before I got the cards I want from the box (bought over 2/3 of the box already). I didn't copy down my game code since I didn't expect to play it again, I hate games that doesn't link to your google/facebook accounts. Definitely didn't expect to see if on Steam now, hard to tell myself to restart from sctrach when I had a deck that I spent months on to build.

you don't need to spend ♥♥♥♥ in this game. you get thousands of gems a day if you play.

all packs are available to buy. You can transfer your progress to this version by using konami ID. Tried it, worked fine
