Can I have them, I need some bones to chew on, or prepare a serving of ribs to homeless people
Ey the homeless people are gonna be so happy, either that or die spontaneously for unknown reason
As for Normal Marik's data in the files: It is true that he is a playable character, but it is likely that he will remain unused just like Solomon Muto and Yami Joey.
I also will point out that he has no voice lines or anything related to dueling, which further proves that he will go unused since characters like Zane Truesdale and Yubel had everything a character needs to be fully functional put into the files before the GX world even launched.
In the anime, Marik not only has mostly every card at his disposal, through the black market he's supposed to have, he also knows how to play each combo and strategy. He's supposed to have build the top Rare Hunter decks along with Odion and when he mind controls people that duel, it's actually him dueling.
The extra cards Bandit Keith uses, like Cyber Jar, Curse of Fiend, Seiyaryu, Magic Jammer, Zera the Mant, Solemn Judgment, Tribute to the Doomed, are actually last moment additions Marik made to Keith's deck and equipment.
Same with Joey's Raigeki, Hinotama etc.
With Strings, it's obvious that he got the Egyptian God from his master, along with a deck modified to make Slifer unbeatable, definitely not Strings' personal deck. And it's also obvious that Marik indeed does all the thinking and talking when a mind controlled person duels, Strings in particular just barely exists in the episode, definitely not talks like himself, or try to fight back and break the mind control. I know. Scary...
Sorry about all that text, just wanted to clear out any opinion that normal Marik never plays a duel, isn't acquainted to certain cards, or that he's not an essential character. I could write more to explain why he's completely different to his Yami counterpart, but hey. It's kinda lame.
Hmm, maybe you're just joking
I thought this was interesting so looked up more on Marik. I came to this site:
https://yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Marik_Ishtar
It does seem to indicate what you say is correct. There is one part I do not remember which is slightly ambiguous:
"Marik tried to call out to Ishizu but his dark personality trapped Marik in a "prison" built out of his own fear and pity. Through Tea's mind, Marik listened to Ishizu's story of how he became evil and created his darker side, thus beginning to reform himself. After the quarter-finals, his reformed soul confronted his other self, claiming that he would make up for everything he had done and apologizing to his father, before a Duel with him. In this Duel, Marik teamed up with Yami Bakura to stop him, but failed when Yami Marik used Ra's other abilities, which were unknown to Marik. However, Marik (through Téa) warned Ishizu to hide Odion from Yami Marik in order to save his life. "
The teaming up thing does suggest that even here he is not in his own body. He is still a character who knows how to play but I think one thing is clear - he had no interest in being a duelist at that level.
"Marik and the others managed to escape and Marik and his family end up staying in Egypt. "
Interesting little rabbit hole.
To take the opposing view for a second though, do they have to duel to be worthy of inclusion? From memory I am not sure if Grandpa duels beyond that one where Kaiba takes his Blue Eyes (hey Kaiba bro, I have extra copies if you need some) but I would still like to see him included and we know from data mining that he is coded in.
Idk why you wanted to bump this but anyways, Soloman did duel, he used a Ancient deck that is themed around Ancient Dragon which is like Red Archfiend Dragon but 200 less ATK but a stronger abilitiy: If it destroys a monster by battle then all defense position monsters on the opponents field gets destroyed, instead of the destroy a defense position monster to destroy all defense position monsters. That ability alone was probably why it's not a real card
Now bumping is the practice of keeping a thread alive for no purpose other than that. Being part of a discussion on the internet is possible on any thread that is not locked. Necro would be an old thread that should be settled. Understand these terms now?
If this is interesting and I feel I would like to discuss it should I just make a new thread? That comes in for criticism. It is not that old and frankly Zane, you are not that bright if you just sling out your little criticisms like that. Just accept you are not interested in it and move on. Or click unsubscribe.
