Declan Akaba and the Contract Procrastination Skill!
Structure Deck EX: D/D/D Apocalypse and the Idea of Armageddon Mini BOX gave powerful new cards to D/D/D Decks, including D/D Proud Ogre and D/D Savant Kepler. One of the coolest additions to the D/D/D theme, however, is Declan Akaba’s Contract Procrastination Skill. This Skill eliminates the drawback of the “Dark Contract” cards that D/D/D Decks rely on, and allows for powerful tech cards to be incorporated into the Deck.

Declan’s Contract Procrastination Skill can be used at the start of each turn if you have at least one “Dark Contract” card on your field. When you use the Skill, you skip the Standby Phase of the turn. D/D/D Decks use “Dark Contract” cards to get the Deck up and running. Dark Contract with the Gate, for example, is a Continuous Spell Card that lets you add a D/D monster from your Deck to your hand each turn, while Dark Contract with the Swamp King is a Continuous Spell Card that lets you Fusion Summon monsters with its effect. These “Dark Contract” cards help D/D/D Duelists build impressive fields. As a drawback to the power of these “Dark Contract” cards, they inflict 1000 points of damage to their controller during that player’s Standby Phase. That’s where the Contract Procrastination Skill comes in. If you use it to skip your Standby Phase, the “Dark Contracts” won’t have a chance to inflict damage to your Life Points.

The Contract Procrastination Skill also won’t interfere with the effect of D/D/D Oracle King d’Arc. Oracle King d’Arc is a Fusion Monster that converts damage from effects into Life Point gain. While it’s on the field, you can choose not to use your Contract Procrastination Skill so that your “Dark Contract” cards are able to grant you Life Points in your Standby Phase. Since it’s optional to activate the effect of Contract Procrastination each turn, entering a Duel using it with your D/D/D Deck will never backfire.

One of the coolest things about Contract Procrastination is that it lets you circumvent the drawbacks of other cards that activate in the Standby Phase. As long as you have a “Dark Contract” on your field, you can skip your Standby Phase so that you don’t need to banish 10 cards from your Deck with Golden Castle of Stromberg, or pay 2000 Life Points to keep Mirror Wall on your field. Eliminating the drawbacks from these already-powerful cards makes them even stronger, and allows them to be awesome tech cards that synergize with D/D/D Decks using Contract Procrastination.

Contract Procrastination is a cool Skill that enhances D/D/D Decks and has the potential to shape the way D/D/D Decks are built. You can unlock it randomly by Dueling against Legendary Duelists and in PvP Duels using Declan. Be sure to Duel with Declan so that you can get this powerful Skill!

Konami: here's a fun way to abuse Golden Castle and Mirror wall lol. Also Konami: for my next trick I'll premptively limit a Nekroz card no one has ever used before

Because there's no way to combat easy to beat cards and there's such a large list of D/D players using Golden Castle and Mirror Wall it's like their staples now

They run 6 Castles in the deck, that's more than your MSTs and cyclones. Also Konami says they limited Nekroz of Valkyrus because it will make duels slower, which is exactly what Golden Castle in DDD does.

They run Dark Contracts or TTH or other removal, not Golden and Mirror, they can't even fit x3 of both without bricking which guess what amounts to the same as x3 MST and Cyclone or just x3 Galaxy Cyclone. Also they nerfed Nekroz cause it's getting support whether or not it makes them relevant, the sluggish play is just an excuse which Golden doesn't even do since all you have to do is just play some form of backrow removal or Triamids or monsters immune to destruction effects

I just don't like how it affects metaphys. It was a fun deck to run, but even at best of times was a bit slow and inconsistent. Now aloof lupine got limited to 2, which hurts metaphys a lot more than it does thunder dragons, and there is a popular new ability that hard counters metaphys. They don't run much removal because that's what all their banish effects are for. It's technically possible, but if that ability goes live, your *only* way of winning is to normal draw into your trap since you can't use nephthys to search it anymore, and normal draw into asymmetaphys/aloof lupine to banish a metaphys from your hand and trigger the trap on the following turn. They could have easily just made an ability that negates damage/cost during the standby phase without screwing over an already underpowered deck into the ground

Not just metaphys, it screws with Fire Kings and Weather Painters too but konami dosn't give a hoot about small fry decks

And neither does the playerbase hence why they're small fry and losing every game to a easy win

That's such a toxic mentality. The whole point of many skills is to give buffs to weaker archetypes that could never compete in the TCG. And here we have an ability doing the exact opposite. Telling people to suck it up and play the meta isn't a valid response

The point of skills was to make the game interesting and unique, this idea that they buffed weaker decks never existed since the weak are still weak and the strong are still strong, also don't play meta then play something else, but don't spend your time here whining about a mediocre skill in a mediocre deck, actually fix yourself and wait until they deal with the skill or deal with it it's this simple
