Harpie Deck Update: Harpie Oracle!

The Sign of Harpies Mini BOX recently catapulted Harpie Decks into the competitive arena with the addition of cards like Cyber Slash Harpie Lady, Harpie Channeler, Harpie Harpist, and Harpie Perfumer. Now, introduced into Duel Links through the latest Tag Duel Tournament event, there’s a new Harpie card available for Duelists to use: Harpie Oracle! Take a look at the latest Harpie and see how it fits into the competitive Harpie theme!

Harpie Oracle is a Level 4 Winged Beast whose name becomes Harpie Lady while it’s on the field or in the Graveyard. This allows it to synergize with cards that only work while Harpie Lady is on the field, like Elegant Egotist, or that work with cards named Harpie Lady in the Graveyard, like Harpie’s Feather Rest. Harpie Oracle also has two useful effects that can each be used once per turn.

The first of these two effects lets you Special Summon Harpie Oracle from your hand while you control a Level 5 or higher Harpie monster. You can use this effect to Special Summon Harpie Oracle from your hand while you control the popular Cyber Slash Harpie Lady Synchro Monster, or the less popular Harpie Lady Sisters or Harpie’s Pet Dragon. Since Summoning Cyber Slash Harpie Lady has become the focus of most competitive Harpie Decks, it’s easy to Special Summon Harpie Oracle from your hand just by keeping with the general Harpie strategy. Harpie Oracle has 1300 Attack Points and Cyber Slash Harpie Lady has 2600 Attack Points, so Special Summoning Harpie Oracle from your hand while Cyber Slash Harpie Lady is on your field will give your two monsters combined Attack Points of 3900. By adding the Skill The Tie that Binds or Harpies’ Hunting Ground into the mix to give each of your monsters additional Attack Points, you’ll be able to wipe out your opponent’s 4000 starting Life Points with just those two monsters!

Harpie Oracle’s other effect activates if it’s Normal or Special Summoned. This effect lets you add a Spell or Trap Card from your Graveyard to your hand, that specifically lists Harpie Lady Sisters in its text, during the End Phase of the turn. You can use this effect to retrieve popular cards that most Harpie Decks use, like Elegant Egotist and Harpie’s Feather Rest. Recycling an already-used card so that it can be used again can give you a big advantage in long Duels that last a lot of turns, especially when those cards are as impactful as Elegant Egotist and Harpie’s Feather Rest.

Harpie Oracle’s variety of effects give it a unique role in Harpie Decks. In the right situation, it can be very useful. Do you think Harpie Oracle makes the cut in competitive Harpie Decks?

Do you want the event rewards to be nothing but meta URs? I don't think it takes a marketing or game theorist doctorate to tell you why that's a bad idea

I don't want everything they give in events to be meta but you can count on the fingers of your hands the rewards from events that have been used in ranked over the last few years. How do you like to defend the indefensible?
