Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links
Game lagging and freezing
Hi guys!
My game started to lag and freeze in the last 2 days, It lags when loading things, takes minutes to get me into the duel if I dont lose already, I have been playing on this pc for a year and this is the first time this happens, I have a Ryzen 7 3700x and a GTX 1060 with 16GB of RAM, I already tried to uninstall the game but didnt work, and performance is set to max. Changing resolution didnt help either, but however lowering the performance stopps the lag but who wants to lower the performance with a pc such as mine.
What do I do? anyone else having the same problem? could it be the last update?

Higher FPS means lower frametimes which means much more responsive and 'snappy' play, even with only a 60 Hz monitor. Try it. You should feel the difference immediately. Much less delay(which some call lag).

I have 2 monitors: 60 hz ips and 360 hz tn. I am really sorry. But Yu-gi-oh is not fps game, fps is not really matter here. Unless I don't know something :reexcited:

VA panel displays are particularly great for watching movies. Ok, I can understand what is the difference between IPS, TN, TF and VA panels, and which one is most suited for me, but 60 hz and 360 hz on Yu-gi-oh game is important?? C'mon.. this is nonsense
Just to be clear, I am not talking 60 Hz vs 360 Hz, but 60 FPS vs higher FPS(like 240 or something), on a 60 Hz monitor. It makes a big difference. Less delay between clicks. There's a lot of clicking in Duel Links... do the maths. Lower frametimes is always good, provided it is stable and doesn't stutter too much.
I got this issue as well on my new gaming PC. I can confirm that setting the max frame rate at 147, mentioned in this thread is the solution. I have Windows 11 and did not had NVIDEA control panel (so you might need to download this as well if you don't).

Open NVIDEA Control panel --> Manage 3D settings --> tab: Program settings --> select program to customize: DLPC (Dual links) --> set max frame rate at 147.

If you want a perfectly smooth experience, limit the FPS to a multiple/fraction of your refresh rate. So if you have a 60 Hz monitor, put it as high as possible without having issues - for example limiting to 120, 180, 240 or even 30 FPS.

If, for example, you have g-sync or similar active, limit FPS to 3 below your refresh rate. So 141 FPS for 144 Hz monitors, so it always stays in the g-synched range.

I'm having this issue right now, game has been perfectly smooth for over 250 hours and suddenly it's just crapping out whenever it's doing any kind of intense 2D animation, the 3D is fine. It's as if it's not even using my GPU for the 2D stuff, but it can't use the iGPU, because the HDMI isn't plugged into the motherboard, it's plugged into the GPU. Cards are leaving huge trails behind them when selected from the hand too, there's some issue going on specifically with the effects used on the 2D stuff.

UPDATE: Turns out framerate must've been excessively high in those sections for some reason, I set a cap in Nvidia Control Panel to 119, the max of my screen with G-Sync on and now it's fine. Weird that it suddenly broke from it and wasn't broken from it before though.

Yeah I just experienced the same. Turned out I was getting like 1500+ FPS. Seems to break the 2D animations. I had vsync forced to off in the NVIDIA Control Panel. If you'd set it to application controlled, the game should take care of it. I don't remember it happening in the past either with high framerate. I currently have it set to 480 FPS for my 120 Hz screen. Seems to work well, and the frametime is nice and low at 2.0 ms.

I didn't even think to check what framerate I was getting before tbf lol. I just assumed with it uncapped it MUST be the issue if high framerates cause issues since I'm using a 7950X3D and 4090... I mean on Clone Hero the framerates were in the 1000s too lmfao, apparently not ideal for some games. Duel Links really is an odd one though for it to work intermittently regardless of it. Normally I set a lot of things in Nvidia Control Panel rather than in game when it comes to vsync and frame limits though since they tend to vary on a game to game basis and I find the ones in the control panel work best with G-Sync over ingame vsync settings. My usual setup is having G-Sync enabled, vsync on "Fast", Triple Buffering on, and low latency mode set to Ultra, but some games don't like it and want the framerate limited to the maximum 119hz for G-Sync on regardless *shrug*

Yeah high framerates can break games in various ways from my experience. Heck, even big titles like Dark Souls 1 and Fallout 4 had things breaking/going out of sync with high framerates. No doubt there's many more examples. I would recommend you cap FPS to 3 below your refresh rate for g-sync games, to ensure the game stays in your g-sync range(sometimes it can fluctuate despite caps).
