I doubt it, but this only just started happening after yesterday's update and I have over 300 hours on the game.

Lagging or stuttering? I noticed for the first time the FPS are now uncapped which I've wanted for some time. However it's better if they would add some settings like custom FPS caps and v-sync for those that want it. I have capped my game now at 360 FPS and it's mostly very smooth(and way more responsive than the fixed 60 FPS I used to have for a long time). Problem with high framerates is that the game is not optimised well enough to perform so good *all* the time(hence the variable FPS). To fix stutters you can just cap your framerate using RTSS or something.

I dont know what RTSS is, how do I go about capping my frame rate on the game?

You can just search internet for it. It comes with MSI Afterburner. First though I would verify that you actually have uncapped FPS(can enable FPS in Steam's settings or use something like FRAPS). If it is varying rapidly then you have uncapped FPS.
