Structure Deck EX: Rise of Gaia!
There’s a powerful new Structure Deck in the Shop, and it pairs perfectly with the brand-new character Skill, The Dragon Knight’s Path! Structure Deck EX: Rise of Gaia contains 4 new cards that were previously unavailable to use in Duel Links, and these cards have the potential to revolutionize the way “Gaia” Decks are played. Check out the four new cards in the newest Structure Deck and see why their synergy with the latest Skill may transform Gaia the Fierce Knight into the focus of a top competitive Deck!

1. Galloping Gaia

Galloping Gaia is a new Field Spell Card with a bunch of awesome effects. First, it stops your opponent from activating cards or effects during the Battle Phase while Gaia the Dragon Champion is on your field. Second, once per turn, you can reveal a Gaia the Fierce Knight monster from your hand to add a Level 5 Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to your hand, or you can reveal a Level 5 Dragon-Type monster from your hand to add a Gaia the Fierce Knight monster from your Deck to your hand. As long as you have Galloping Gaia on your field, any time you draw either a Gaia the Fierce Knight monster or a Level 5 Dragon, you’ll be able to use your Field Spell to grab the one you’re missing so that you have both.

More impressively, The Dragon Knight’s Path Skill, which you can now unlock for Yami Yugi, Yugi Muto (DM), and Yugi Muto (DSOD) by Summoning a Warrior-Type monster 20 times with those characters, guarantees that you always get your Galloping Gaia. This Skill lets you return a card from your hand to your Deck to place a Galloping Gaia face-up on your field from your Deck. You’ll only be able to use this Skill if your Deck has at least 8 Gaia the Fierce Knight monsters or Level 5 Dragon-Type monsters. It also restricts you from Special Summoning any monsters until the end of your next turn after using the Skill, except for Gaia the Fierce Knight monsters, Fusion Monsters that use Gaia the Fierce Knight monsters as its materials, Black Luster Soldier monsters, and Level 5 Dragon-Type monsters. That’s why this Skill will only work well with Decks that are heavily built around Gaia. Nevertheless, it is strong enough to make those Decks a powerful force in competitive Dueling.

2. Gaia the Magical Knight

The new Gaia the Magical Knight is always treated as a Gaia the Fierce Knight card. This makes it work with Galloping Gaia so that you can reveal it with Galloping Gaia to add a Level 5 Dragon-Type monster like Curse of Dragonfire to your hand, or you can reveal a Level 5 Dragon-Type monster to add Gaia the Magical Knight to your hand. Gaia the Magical Knight is a Level 7 monster, but its effect makes it easy to Normal Summon. If you control no monsters, or your opponent controls a monster with 2300 or more ATK, you can Normal Summon Gaia the Magical Knight without Tribute. Once per turn, if it’s Normal or Special Summoned, you can Special Summon a Level 5 Dragon-Type monster from your hand or Graveyard in Defense Position. By using Galloping Gaia to make sure you always have Gaia the Magical Knight paired with a Level 5 Dragon in your hand, you’ll be able to make the best use out of your Gaia the Magical Knight’s effect and Summon it alongside that Dragon as early as your first turn in a Duel. You’ll usually want to use Curse of Dragonfire (which is reprinted in Structure Deck EX: Rise of Gaia), because Curse of Dragonfire lets you fuse together your on-field monsters to Summon Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons.

3. Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons

Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons is a Level 7 Dragon-Type monster with 2600 ATK that you can Summon by fusing together a Gaia the Fierce Knight monster and a Level 5 Dragon-Type monster. As noted above, Curse of Dragonfire’s effect lets you Fusion Summon it without using Polymerization, making Gaia the Magical Knight and Curse of Dragonfire the optimal 2-card combination for Fusion Summoning Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons.

While face-up on the field, Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons’s name becomes Gaia the Dragon Champion. In addition, Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons has two effects that can each be used only once per turn. Its first effect is a Quick Effect that lets you target another card on the field during either player’s Main Phase and destroy that card by reducing Gaia’s ATK by 2600. Its second effect permanently increases Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons’s ATK by 2600 once per turn when it destroys an opponent’s monster by battle. These Attack Points will not only make Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons tougher to destroy in battle, but it’ll also allow your Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons to use its effect more than once while it’s face-up on the field.

4. Soldier Gaia the Fierce Knight

Soldier Gaia the Fierce Knight is a new Level 8 Warrior-Type monster with 2600 and a cool Quick Effect that lets you Special Summon it from your hand by Tributing a Dragon-Type Fusion Monster. After you use Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons’s effect to destroy an opponent’s card by permanently reducing its ATK to 0, you can Tribute your Magical Knight of Dragons to Summon Soldier Gaia the Fierce Knight in its place. If Soldier Gaia the Fierce Knight is Special Summoned, you can target an Attack Position monster on the field and change it to Defense Position.

In your Gaia Deck, you’ll usually want to use Galloping Gaia to make sure you Summon Gaia the Magical Knight and Curse of Dragonfire alongside one another on your first turn, and fuse them together with Curse of Dragonfire’s effect to Summon Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons. After using Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons’s effect, however, Soldier Gaia the Fierce Knight gives you the perfect follow up to replace your Fusion Monster that has 0 ATK with a more powerful monster. In addition, Soldier Gaia the Fierce Knight has another effect that lets you Tribute it to add a Level 7 or higher Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand, other than Soldier Gaia the Fierce Knight. By using this effect to add Gaia the Magical Knight to your hand on your turn, you’ll have taken your first step to Summoning Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons once again.

The new Gaia cards in Structure Deck EX: Rise of Gaia pair with The Dragon Knight’s Path Skill to form a powerful Deck. How do you think Gaia Decks will fare in PvP Dueling?
