Quattro and the New Gimmick Puppet Deck!

The Gimmick Puppet theme has recently been given a lot of support in the Arts of Atlantis Mini BOX and Darkness Gimmick Main BOX. The new Gimmick Puppet cards have easily made Gimmick Puppet Decks one of the most efficient Decks for Xyz Summoning Rank 8 monsters. Coupled with Quattro’s Relinquished Puppet Skill, Gimmick Puppet Decks are now more powerful than they’ve ever been. Check out some of the cool strategies that a Duelist wielding Gimmick Puppets can use!

Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll Keeps Coming Back!
The Level 8 Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll may not look impressive at first glance since it has 0 ATK and 0 DEF, but its effect puts it at the core of most Gimmick Puppet Decks. Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll is a Level 8 Machine-Type monster that you can Special Summon from your Graveyard by banishing another Gimmick Puppet monster from your Graveyard. You can only Special Summon Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll once per turn in this way, and Dreary Doll can only be used in an Xyz Summon if it’s for the Xyz Summon of a Gimmick Puppet monster. Fortunately, there are some awesome Rank 8 Gimmick Puppet Xyz Monsters, including Number 40: Gimmick Puppet of Strings and Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder, that you can use Dreary Doll to Summon.

Plus, it’s easy to get Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll, as well as other Gimmick Puppet monsters, into your Graveyard. Quattro’s Relinquished Puppet Skill, for example, lets you send a Level 8 Gimmick Puppet monster from your hand or Deck to the Graveyard to play Gimmick Puppet Des Troy onto your field from outside of your Deck. The new Condolence Puppet Spell Card from the Arts of Atlantis Mini BOX lets you send Gimmick Puppet monsters with different names from your Deck to the Graveyard, up to the number of monsters your opponent controls that were Special Summoned from the Extra Deck +1. That means Condolence Puppet can always send at least 1 Gimmick Puppet monster from your Deck to your Graveyard, giving it great synergy with Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll. Condolence Puppet also has another effect. By banishing it from your Graveyard, you can target a Machine-Type Xyz Monster you control, including any of the Gimmick Puppet Xyz Monsters, and make it so that the targeted monster can’t be destroyed by your opponent’s card effects while it’s face-up on the field. This effect strengthens the already-powerful Xyz Monsters that the Gimmick Puppet theme offers.

Gimmick Puppet Decks Special Summon Monsters Easily!
Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll isn’t the only Gimmick Puppet card that makes Special Summoning easy. Gimmick Puppet Magnet Doll is a Level 8 monster that you can Special Summon from your hand if your opponent controls a monster and if all of your monsters are face-up Gimmick Puppet monsters; Gimmick Puppet Bisque Doll is a Level 8 monster that you can Special Summon from your hand by discarding another Gimmick Puppet monster; Gimmick Puppet Terror Baby is a Level 4 monster that lets you Special Summon a Gimmick Puppet monster from your Graveyard in Defense Position when it’s Normal Summoned; and Junk Puppet is a Normal Spell Card that lets you target a Gimmick Puppet monster in your Graveyard and Special Summon it. Several other cards in the Gimmick Puppet theme are also able to help Special Summon Gimmick Puppet monsters. Although the Gimmick Puppet monsters in the Main Deck don’t have high ATK or DEF, they’re easy to Special Summon. That makes them easy to use as Xyz Materials to Xyz Summon much more powerful monsters.

Some Gimmick Puppets Have Effects in the Graveyard!
Although Gimmick Puppet Duelists usually want to load up the Graveyard with monsters to help Special Summon Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll, some other Gimmick Puppet cards have effects that can be activated from the Graveyard too. One of these effects stops your opponent from activating cards or effects in response to the activation of your Gimmick Puppet monster effects for the turn, and another of those effects stops your opponent from targeting Gimmick Puppet monsters you control with card effects during the turn. Although these effects may not seem too impressive at first glance, in the right situation, access to these effects can be the difference between victory and defeat.

Gimmick Puppets are a cool new theme that hasn’t yet become popular, but the Deck looks like it has a lot of potential. If you like Special Summoning monsters and performing Rank 8 Xyz Summons, give the Deck a try!
