i really wish they'd make another game like duelists of the roses
there was nowhere really related to this so I'm writing it here

I LOVED that grid based yugioh gameplay. its so sad it existed only in the age before the rise of multiplayer online gaming or people would STILL be playing that game today

they should make another yu gi oh game with that game system

Theres a game name i haven't heard in years, used to love the game casually, was not happy with when you win its a slot wheel spin for new cards, kept getting "Fake Trap" over and over, when you needed 3 of a kind to get a unique card. Besides that, fun game~

Haha yeah, eventually learned to use Fake Trap for decoy purposes.

The good thing in capsule monster coliseum was that every monster was usefull.
From 1* monster card to 10* monster card.
Perfectly ultimate moth / javelin beetle / Zoa / Tri horned dragon etc. which are garbage cards but got nice drawing could be very powerfull and usefull.
In the card game they are pure thrash and nobody plays them.

it had the reincarnation feature also; sacrifice 1 card gain 3 random ones

Kind of sad though that the later duelists (and a few special ones, I think pegasus and maybe shadi) straight up cheat and know what all your face-downs are. They will fight your monster if they can beat it, run if they can't, and stay away if it's a trap.

Honestly, the best strategy I had with a dark symbol was just kuriboh spam. With max symbol effect, they could one-shot a majority of non-light enemies and had decent stats in terms of movement/range. Even if they died from one hit, they were still a really nice army to send out, and even on the more restricted maps you could guarantee being able to move all your pieces in one turn. Honestly, using many of the better monsters like exodia or rituals was not worth it until you leveled them up or just wanted to feel like a god

I never used the dark symbol but i've played with my friends versus mode and the kuriboh had the special effect protection which was nice.
I had forest which had great balance between both attack and defence.
One of the good aspects of the game was the atributes which was playing a big role.
I had forest / wind / water / fire pawns mixed.
If my opponent had wind - i had forest
If my opponent had fire - i had water
If my opponent had water - i had wind
If my opponent had forest - i had fire
It was a pretty fun game to play but way to easy because it had no difficulty levels.
If it had online mode it would be dope xD
Forgot to mention that the character conversations were very nice too!

that's why i want a new version of this game, online mode! it would change everything. and they could sell me new monsters in packs i'd buy the hell out of those

I was replaying it a year or two ago, and it's sadly one of those games that is so old you can only find (questionably valid) information for through random gamefaq guides or copy-pasted "cheats" guides across a few long-obsolete websites. I remember finding one that went in-depth into the symbols and I think wood is the only one that has three buffs instead of one or two. For example, a dark symbol will boost the attack of dark monsters and the defense (I think) of thunder monsters. An earth symbol will boost the HP of earth monsters and the attack of light monsters (which is arguably better than the light symbol, which buffs light monsters' defense). And yeah, the game did a lot of things right and even had a cool NG+ as well as incentives to keep playing and general interesting features. I remember being a kid losing to the second pegasus fight and accidentally finding out that he uses different teams depending on where he starts, each of which has some unique monsters you can only get from him. It would have been awesome if mechanics like that were used more often. A modern remake of that game would be amazing, imagine one with online play, difficulty settings, various ng+ features, thousands of newer monsters, maybe even some relation to synchros/xyz/pendulums/links
