Help with Konami ID / Data Transfer / progression saving
Hello! I played this game for a few hours now, got myself some characters leveled up and acquired some playable decks with gems. I went through the processes of creating myself a Konami ID and (probably) setting up Data Transfer. But now it is all starting to get confusing.

I do not really plan to play the game outside my PC, but I want to feel safe that my progress is always there and I don't lose it somehow. My biggest concern is not to lose the stuff when re-installing the operating system (Windows, in my case) and formatting the storage drives (which could happen every couple of months).

If I did everything right regarding the Data Transfer the first time, do I need to do it again and again so my saved-up progress is up to date? Or does it save automatically and I need not to worry about it?

Also, on the Konami ID webpage, under "Account Information", it does not appear to be linked with anything (not even Steam). Is that normal or should I do something extra in order to link the two?

I will leave below two screenshots with what I currently have, first one is how my Data Transfer menu looks like if I click on it (before entering the in-game world) and then the second, which describes the previous paragraph.

Any kind of help would be highly appreciated, thank you!

Grats on setting up your Konami ID. This will help in more ways than just playing on the PC

This is a very understandable concern that many people have. As I stated, Having a Konami ID set up will help in more ways than just playing on the PC or Mobile Platforms. I will explain more on this in a bit.

Once you have the Konami ID set up, it will update the game for you automatically every time that you login regardless of the platform that you login from So you do not need to worry about that part.

Also, on the Konami ID webpage, under "Account Information", it does not appear to be linked with anything (not even Steam). Is that normal or should I do something extra in order to link the two?

This is not something that you need to worry about either. Once you place Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links (YDL) on the Steam Client once, it will link to your Konami ID once you do the first Data Transfer.

Now, as for having a Konami ID will help you in more than just playing YDL on your phone or PC. Let's say for some reason, whatever that might be, you can not play YDL on your phone anymore, you can use the Data Transfer to reload your game files from the Konami Servers. Also if you are someone that plays the Trading Card Game (TCG) at a local store and Regional Tournaments, you have the Player's Card Number for that in your Settings Page on the Konami ID Web site.

What Konami did a few months back was that they made it to where no one other then you can use your game if they have the Steam version on their computer. This was done to stop people from getting insanely high numbers in events like the KC Cup, WCS and others like that. There were some cases of people logging to an account from other parts of the world within minutes of them logging out of that account in another place. An example is someone logging out in the USA and logging back in from China, or Japan, then switching back again a little later.

If you did it all correctly the first time, it will automatically update the save file stored to it. The first pic is just when you are moving the save to a new device.

I dunno about that second pic though, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. Duel Links isn't even on Playstation

There's really nothing else besides what's in pic 1, when clicking Data Transfer. That should mean it was done properly the first time, right? I do not recall getting an error or anything while / after completing the initial process either.

There is only one way to know if you did the setting up of your Konami ID correctly. Well, two ways. First, load the PC version through Steam, or on another mobile device (like a Tablet), and do a Data Transfer that way.

The second, and I do not recommend this being as if you did not set it right the first time, you will lose all the progress you have up to date, Delete the entire game from the device you are using and redownload it. This is something that should only be done as a last resort. Keep that in mind.

Thanks for the elaborate answers, Matok! Took the risk with the second way of testing, so I went ahead, uninstalled the game then deleted the remaining files from the Steam folder in my drive and after that re-downloaded the whole thing. Booted the game twice and I am happy to say that everything is just as I left it (characters, cards, etc.). I hope that's enough of a reason to believe the Konami ID setup and first DT were indeed successful.

L.E. : Did a reinstall of my O.S. and downloaded the game yet again. All my in-game stuff is still there. :dexo_happy:

Also thanks to Zane and bLaze' for sharing their thoughts in this thread!

You can also make a Konami ID for MGS and PES, both of which are on PlayStation ^^
