How do I buy cards?
I understand that this is a pay-to-win port of a mobile game, and I'm willing to spend a few bucks to get good cards. The only problem is the game won't let me. In the shop the only box available is The Ultimate Rising, and there are no options to purchase gems or cards with real money. Do I have to advance a certain level to unlock this? Right now my cards all suck and I'd get destroyed in my first gate duel with lv 10 Joey.

I think you just gotta advance through the tutorial a little more, then you should be able to aim for whatever you want in the shop.
The game is not Pay To Win, you can get almost everything for free, especially as a beginner, you get so many gems just from quests and levels (Hint: before you redeem every reward from a stage quest, clear all standard duelists to maximize XP, as the standard duelists will respawn fully when you rank up the stage).

As a beginner you can get some really sweet decks quite easily and free.

Now, there are some structure decks, and those are mainly for money, but neither is good enough to be worth it UNLESS you really like the theme, then go for it.

The thing with people who cry about P2W is that they don't have the meta deck they cry about, and the only way to get it instantly *snaps fingers* is to use money, and that's why they call it "P2W", but the reality is, it's more like, pay to skip, as what you do with the money is skip the grind.

I own lots of decks, but cheap and easy to make, and expensive that take time to farm, and I didn't spend money on them, I just used gems from events and level up.

I'm getting kind of tired of this argument of people saying it's not p2w because they don't want their ego to be bruised.

there is no viable way to get top tier cards for a top tier deck in a reasonable amount of time. without paying.
eg. if you want to play the game and win some pvp you have to pay.

maybe for someone playing from day 1 of this game and sinking time into it every day/regularly it is less p2w. but for all else it is.

your argument that every card is possible to obtain free is the same argument EA, yes EA, used to state the original release of battlefront 2 was not p2w.

their argument was exactly the same: you can unlock everything, without doing the microstranstactions. only it's gonna take you (estimate from 1 youtuber who checked everything 4527 hours to do so, most of these hours you will be sucking at the game and leeching of other players in online matches)
or you can go get that creditcard, pay a couple of 100 or 1000 bucks. and get it now....

are you gonna argue battlefront 2 was not p2w?

The amount of people in here not willing to admit it's p2w is just staggering using the same dead horse argument every time.
(i'd actually even argue almost every f2p game is p2w.
every game that is f2p is actually p2p(and have fun) as noone likes losing every time over and over again so every f2p game is p2w.

and I'm fine with that. it means my progress in this game is slower. and I don't bother with most pvp events except for the daily bonus.

what irks me is all the people here who are so fragile or triggered they can't admit they are playing a p2w game....

If you don't want to hear people say it's not P2W then stay in your echo chamber

Tier 1 is filled by Crystron, that deck was released nearly a year ago you had plenty of time to make one, hell you don't even need a top tier deck you just need a competent deck since Ranked means nothing now

You don't need to be a day 1 player, you need to be a player that actually tries to obtain gems

Except Battlefront 2 was a triple A P2P game with lootbox systems giving people advantages, not to mention are shown to rig their games, last time I checked this game s F2P and you don't need every card in the game, in fact you don't need every box since some recent ones are trash investments, you just don't want to bother farming gems for a good deck

Battlefront 2 was P2W, because the stuff you could get for money changed the game entirely and you had to PAY in order to PLAY it, this game is free and the best stuff is free, nothing needs money except for SD's or SB's which SD's except for R stuff can be obtained once with a SR DT or UR DT and box stuff of that year usually is released when the new world box hits, again currently the best deck is Crystrons that deck is F2P everything in it is free

Or it could be that some of us have actually played the game (unlike you) or have actually seen what real P2W looks like

Technically F2P games are P2P cause you gotta pay for electricity in order to play it, and internet and a computer

If you are losing it's on you

So people are "fragile and triggered they can't admit they are playing a p2w game" even though you are sitting here complaining about how others think and having a different opinion, I have played real P2W games and seen it close hand but I stick to not buying anything cause why would I? Same thing here never bought anything and I could make it to KoG if I wanted to and not 1 of my decks is top tier

Comparing BF2 microtransaction systems to Duel Links is like comparing apples to airplanes.
