Additional data download is kinda weird.
So I've played like 3 duels and after each one the game tells me I need to download even more of the game in order to continue playing. Why not just download everyone that's needed in one go then gradually unlock more stuff like any other game? A new update after each level is kinda... annoying.
It also doesn't seem like the additional data is being downloaded through Steam.. where is it being downloaded to? Hopefully the Steam game folder but.. weird that the updates aren't coming through Steam.

I've never heard of this before, Duel Links forces you to download the entire game before you can even play.

Yup, it's not quite how the OP has played it put but now when the game boots up, you do the intro duel with Yugi and Kaiba and I believe either 1 or 2 more, then the game downloads the rest of the data.

Yes, I battled Yugi first, got Kaiba as a character, got my ID from a download, then I played 2 more matches, beat Joey and another download began in the game on 2.7 GB

Did you not link the ID to your game?
