It's far too risky to use haphazardly. Since it only blocks spells and traps when the monster battles, you're just giving the opponent the most devastating Canadia opportunity. Either that or it gets picked off by one of the many other forms of removal. It's also hardly powerful enough to justify investing more cards to combo with it in order to protect it or negate the damage with some miracle set-up. There are plenty of better options when it comes to backrow locking and destruction that don't risk straight-up killing you.

I haven't used it myself, but I recall going up against a really nasty SSA deck where my opponent had WV equipped to BES Crystal Core and completely wrecked me (made note of the deck, looked like a fun one and I have most of the cards other than WV already).
