It's all a chess match to me. You can run lower level monsters to try to get a Higher level monster on your field V.S. just go all out with 4 Stars and Upper level 7-8 stars. Literally either one is fine. No deck is perfect at all and every one of the decks has a fault in them somewhere. So to me, Synchro's are pretty fun, but I do respect your call on Synchro's. After all, some of them are REALLY Hard to get out.
Perhaps after they released a box for each in the shop or something it gets better.
So far neither of the latest released duelst is causing much movement in my pants..
In terms of DL, BEWD is the only good deck with good tuners. More specifically protector since it special summons not only a level 1 tuner, but BEWD as well.
The Junk archetype was good to introduce syncros...too bad it was only in a structure deck that is garbage.
The probelm is that there arn't really of these support monsters availible right now and there are very few Syncro mosters around that are worth building a deck around. The only ones I can think of are Azure Eyes Sliver Dragon which first well in to a Blue Eyes deck and even then you need to make a choice between bringing out a slightly weaker monster in exchange for having two strong monsters the next turn.
The Black Rose Dragon and also work reletively well in an Aromage deck but obviously right now that can only be done with a Akiza. While the Stardust Dragon really doen't seem to have any effective deck in can work with that isn't an awkard mash up.
- Limiting Ace cards to boxes/skills
- Only a handful of generic Synchros available with decent effects/stats (Gravity Warrior, Naturia Leodrake, Flamvell Uruquizas, Giganticastle, X-Saber Wayne, Stardust Dragon)
- Several "generic" Synchros with bad effects/stats (Vylon Sigma, Vylon Epsilon, Power Tool Dragon, Goyo Chaser)
Out of the 21 Synchro monsters we have available outside of skills, 6 are reasonably usable through stats and/or effects and the rest are either restricted to their archetype or have bad effects that make them not worth using in Duel Links.
And that's not even taking into account that Synchros are terrible in this format due to the field restrictions. XYZ monsters will be more flexible, at least. But they will also probably be heavily restricted in variety.
