Sylvan vs Alien

TL;DR Slyvan or Alien for my first PvP focused Deck?

Hello everyone, long time Yu-Gi-Oh player, and recent Duel Links player. I've just recently been farming hard the last few days. I've gotten 2 WoDs, 3 Econs, Mai level 25 Trap Card some good 4* Beaters and such for farming a good mix of meta cards essentially.

I have about 4,000 Gems at the moment, and plenty more coming from future farming, but I need to get into PvP duels now for farming/character unlock reasons and I didn't want to jump in with a random deck, which is why I've been farming so much. So I've been through the forums/reddit reading the guides and have come to the conclusion I want to aim for an Alien or Sylvan deck, but not sure which one.

Alien looks more technical while Sylvan looks like it is just a lot of trying to excavate the correct cards, but the Abyss Encounters has cards for 3 types of decks (big pack). Archfiend, Alien, and Water. So it seems like a lot to aim for, while Sylvan can be done using only the Forest packs which is a small pack. I'm just curious what people who know these decks and maybe duel with/against them think I should go for.

well the in Alien vs Sylvan matchup Sylvan pretty much wins but both have their specific win conditions, Aliens need counters and Sylvans need to excavate the deck. Personally I prefer Aliens mainly because I enjoy that playstyle more and also because I think they are more dynamic and you can tech some cards like Ananta or Lava Golem and they work pretty well, Sylvans are more popular right now because they're easier to play even for new players and since it's a new deck the meta hasn't still adjusted to them.

both decks are strong, i prefer aliens i guess , it seems more consistant , and can comeback easier .

kinda sucky time to start though, counter fairys have become a thing now, 0 interaction, heheheh :D

I got a much bigger response on Reddit, and at the end of the day my conclusion was I can't honestly due Sylv until March 28th, and that depends if the trader will let me straight up buy 3 Roses. If I can do that, easy Sylv deck. Could even get the Merchants or sub them.

If not, I'm going Alien, which I don't mind. I love the idea of an Alien or Space theme deck. I've only played the first two series and GX/Legacy of the Duelist. So this is my first time seeing the Alien deck, and the fact it is strong and in a single pack for the most part with no trader cards needed makes it very easy to access.

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do, currently farming Keith to 20, he was 1 currently 13. So I can have restart. I think I want to wait till the 28th and see what this card trader update looks like. I like the idea of Sylv cause of the easy way to face rush essentially like face hunter in HS. Alien looks just fun to play cause it has much more utility and still a top tier deck.

Just got OTKed by sylvans, putting 10 cards to grave, 4chain sylvans clearing my whole board and let him get 4k+ dmg with rosegirl combo ... .

I have both decks fully built I used Aliens to get to Plat and by that time I finished Sylvan deck and used it to get to Legend 2 (Currently there). You will face a lot of Sylvans and SSA in Legend while Aliens will be mostly in Plat (Based on my experience). You can build both decks if you get bored with aliens you can switch. Sylvans is more luck-reliant but if you add Hey! Trunade and Raging Plants like I did you can have some crazy otks like wiping the enemy board and having your monsters with 4K ATK each (Never run more than 2 spells if you using Magic Merchants) you will want your spells to be around the bottom of your deck and RESTART is a must to have in this deck. Best hand you can get is: Magical Merchant, Sylvan Hemitree and one spell. If you are not close to that hand use Restart.
