Unlock Jesse Anderson and the Crystal Beasts!

Jesse Anderson is back in Duel Links, and this time you can unlock him as a playable character by participating in the “Awaken! Rainbow Dragon!” event! Jesse wields the incredible Crystal Beasts, as well as his Rainbow Dragon ace monster.

All the Crystal Beasts have one thing in common: When one of them is destroyed while face-up in a Monster Card Zone, you can send it face-up to the Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card instead of sending it to the Graveyard. It’s a bit tough to use Crystal Beasts in Duel Links, since you only get 3 Spell & Trap Card Zones, and Crystal Beast monsters occupy those precious zones when they’re destroyed; but you shouldn’t count Crystal Beasts out! Jesse has some cool and interesting abilities that make Crystal Beasts a fun and exciting Deck to play!

(1.) Meet My Family!

Jesse’s Meet My Family! ability adds all 7 Crystal Beasts plus Rainbow Dragon to your Deck at the start of a Duel. You can get 1 copy of Rainbow Dragon in Duel Links by unlocking Jesse Anderson, but you can put a second one in your Deck with the Meet my Family! ability. Rainbow Dragon has 4000 ATK and can only be Special Summoned when you have 7 Crystal Beast cards with different names on your field and/or in your Graveyard. Since you only get to start with 4000 Life Points in Duel Links, one attack from Rainbow Dragon can wipe your opponent out!

At first glance, clogging up your Deck with Crystal Beasts and Rainbow Dragon by using the Meet My Family! ability may not seem too useful. But by adding 8 cards to your Deck at the start of a Duel with this ability, you can bring your Deck size up to as many as 38 cards! That allows it to combo with That Grass Looks Greener – a card that has seen an enormous amount of play in Casual Duels and Ranked Duels alike! Using Meet My Family! to add 8 cards to your 30-card Deck will guarantee that you have more cards in your Deck than your opponent. More importantly, activating That Grass Looks Greener can send Crystal Beast monsters from your Deck to your Graveyard and make it easier to Special Summon Rainbow Dragon!

(2.) Crystal Power

Jesse’s Crystal Power ability is a lot more straightforward than Meet My Family! since it doesn’t alter the contents of your Deck. Crystal Power can be used once per turn and increases the ATK of all face-up monsters on your field by 200 for each Continuous Spell Card on your side of the field.

The Crystal Beast monsters can all become Continuous Spell Cards when they’re destroyed while face-up in a Monster Card Zone, so it’s easy to rack up Continuous Spell Cards in a Crystal Beast Deck. In addition, Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus can drop a Crystal Beast into your Spell & Trap Card Zone when it’s Summoned. In a Crystal Beast Deck, you can consistently get 2 Crystal Beasts into your Spell & Trap Card Zone as Continuous Spell Cards, allowing Jesse’s Crystal Power ability to increase your monsters’ ATK by 400 each turn. If you don’t mind using all 3 of your Spell & Trap Card Zones, you can increase the ATK of all monsters you control by as much as 600 each turn.

Crystal Power doesn’t just work with Crystal Beasts that are in your Spell & Trap Card Zone – it works with all Continuous Spell Cards. That means it gets a boost from other popular cards like Blaze Accelerator, Fire Formation – Gyokkou, and Fire Formation – Tensu. You can even build a Deck around Jesse’s Crystal Power ability without using any Crystal Beasts!
