Dedication through Light and Darkness

This quickplay spells is bugged/broken. At least 4 times now I have not been able to activate this card from my hand or from the field in response to ANYTHING my opponent is doing. At first I though maybe I was simply missing the activation timing, but just now I was not given the option to activate the card in response to an affect that would destroy the face down card (on my opponents turn).

I've looked up the rulings of the card and there is no special rullings besides being able to tribute a face-down Dark Magician, so there is absolutely no reason why the activation of this card will just straight up not appear. Many games have been lost now because I had the card in my hand or on the field, waiting to activate it, but just straight up not even given the option to do so.

The only thing I can think of is that the card MUST be activated during the battle phase when no other cards are activated, which makes absolutely no sense. Almost as frustrating as not being able to activate Jar of Greed during your opponents draw/standby phase and then they immediately Fire Formation - Gyokkou your Jar...

No prob: 1st Scenario - My Dark Magician was attack into an alian monster (1600 atk) with no counters or anything. Had Dedicaion card in my hand. During the damage step (I think) opponent activated Mirror Wall and I could not activate Dedication card from hand

2nd Scenario - Against a sylvan deck, had Dedication card face down with a Jester and Dark Magician on the field. My opponent activates Marshleaf, excevates the shroom and a Marshleaf, selects my face down card and my Dark Magician, and at no point was I given the option to activate the Dedication card..

3rd Scenario - Think against dark world? Anyways had Dark Magician on field with Dedication card face down. During my opponents turn they activated Dark Core and selected my Dark Magician as the target, could not activate my card.

(can't remember what happened the 4th time)

I've witness people activating Dedication card from their hand and field, no idea what is going on honestly. Maybe it has a specific activation timing like Peten the Dark Clown or Insect Hopper? But again there is no indication of this.

Give us more details, you went into a lot about you doing the research(so good on your part), but you aren't giving us the exact scenario it happened in.

However; I do recall a previous thread(about a few months ago) having the same problem. So it might indeed just be a bug. Still give us the exact scenario which you tried to excecute the card.

Okay so first and foremost the obvious question:
Do you have the activation window option set to on or off? Since it never brought up the prompt it can be that you set your activation window to off.

i'd guess from what you told here and following your 1st example the answer is clear. everything happaned during damage step so thats why you couldnt activate it or get any prompt.

i just dont understand the ppl that come with these problems. it happened to you, why you dont save the replay or take picture. now from my experience, most of those ppl dont how the game works at each step and they just focus on their card that didnt work overlooking other cards or conditions that might prevent it. so it turns out to a pointless debate since their explanation is not reliable as they lack the knowledge they need to make their claim consistent.

Or you could actually read more than enough for you to assert an opinion. My bad, I didnt save a replay and export it to youtube so I could post it in the description each time I noticed it happening for you. No idea what other information you need besides the cards on the field and what was activated when. You are VERY smart though, we can tell. Thanks for your two cents sir

when you take a pic or save a replay its would be mostly for yourself to retrace all steps to understand what happened. and i already answered here what might have happened. sorry though, the card isnt bugged or broken in any way. maybe you just dont have any dark magician of chaos in the deck
