Fusion substitutes not working?
So I have a red eyes slash and I've been using paladin and of course red eyes as the monsters. I finally got Versago which let's me substitute one fusion material but it only seems to work half the time. First it wouldn't let me substitute my Paladin even though I had red eyes versago and poly in my hand. Then it was the exact opposite and wouldn't let me substitute red eyes even though again I had a paladin versago and poly. Then when I have red eyes and paladin, I can activate poly and then I can substitute versago just fine....do you have to have both monsters and a fusion substitute? why is it not working?

Versago won't work as a sustitute for an un-named monster. IE: If you have Red Eyes for RES, you can't use Versago for the "un-named" warrior card. It only works as a substitute for a specific target in the fusion. Also just to make it clear if Paladin has Red Eyes equipped to it, it can't be used as a "monster" for poly to activate.

So then why does it not work if I have a Paladin in my hand and Versago and Poly? Versago should be able to substitute red eyes and I've had this problem multiple times.

Ah I made a mistake, If I'm not mistaken it can't be used for RES because of the "Warrior type monster" for the other fusion. Since Versago says the other fusion material monsters must be the correct ones and it's non specific monsters which may be the issue, I think it doesn't work. Would also explain why many of my friends haven't ran The Dark Hex Sealed Fusion within RES decks.

the "must be correct one" phrase is only there to clear up you cant use multiple substidudes in 1 fusion.
prefer the german version of these subs cards
german version reads: "if you do, you cant substitude any other monster in this fusion"

so any warrior still is the correct on.

so yea versago + paladin + poly should work
if you still had a red eyes slash left in extra deck.

Ah then never mind again. Weird.
Though I suspect there may have been something more at play with the issue if there was one or just a mistake in memory from OP.

I'm having this same issue with a Neos deck I tried, with substituting the neo spacians for versago, goddess with the 3rd eye, king of the swamp, but it doesn't work

What are you even trying to summon that requires a Polymerization and Neo Spacians?

Hi, Official TCG Judge here:

Please keep in mind that fusion substitute cards have the clause:
When you do this, the other Fusion Material Monster(s) must be the correct one(s).

You also forgot to mention that the only Neos fusion in the entire game that uses Polymerization and Neo Spacians is Divine Neos which specifically needs the archetype not a specific monster so they cannot be used as substitutes, the only other Neos is Brave but that doesn't need a Neo Spacian so can't count in this topic
