Why do you care?

You can't chat in game during duels, you can disable the general chat that is 98% of trolls anyways, and all information available is readable without you bothering to write about it.

Exactly. To be honest idek the community lol my in-game chat is disabled because of people spamming free gems all the time and if I need some info there's always discord groups one can go for, and it's just chilled people.

Reddit is kind of hit-and-miss. Had a thread asking for advice on a deck I made, and got absolutely thrashed by some people. Eventually someone came in and typed a book, complete with bullet points, on what I should do. Those are the people I'm glad to find.

there was much less toxicity in video games 15 y ago just saying, is because now more ppl has access to internet and anonymity allow them to act and behave contrary to social/cultural standards. none of them got guts to say anything in public. still is not that bad as in LoL eh? the game that raised amount of internet toxicity was clearly LoL, i know since i played it from beta.

Because he might want to chat about the game on a forum? I've posted simple questions before and have been mocked for asking them, a non-toxic community can really help grow a games playerbase, especially considering how toxic most communities are today.

Especially if you, oh goodness, need help with one of the duel quizzes! Everytime i look up a solution to a level 3 puzzle i get stuck on, there is always three or so dudes saying, "You're an idiot if you need help with this!" Yes, becuase i might not know some random quirk about a particular pattern of effects i need to activate, in order to solve the problem, despite the fact that some of these puzzles break a golden rule of "Do not include something, that is not needed for the puzzle."
Taweret Feb 20, 2018 @ 10:33pm
i like to solve quizzes myself but for archfiend one i needed to use solution, after more than 10 attempts , completely forgot about trick of swapping monsters during combat, maybe because i dont play ninja and almost never used this trick in practice and archfiend emperor was there to misguide me.

Yeah, instead of thanking you for giving advices and taking em as a consideration to try them at least they just insult you for it. These are one of a kind of bad people and yes that kind of toxicity was not existing years ago.
GeorgeMegas Feb 20, 2018 @ 10:59pm
Just try to not give a care by doing something that you like.

While yeah, when you got a game that's geared towards young teens, but primarily played by 20 something year olds your bound to get toxic people.
Taweret Feb 21, 2018 @ 4:18pm
while we are at 20 year olds, though i never watched original yugioh, (at the time i just thought its a ripoff of pokemons, joey just looked for me like a brock, and there was other animes such as beyblade, digimons, gash bell.. and i was raised on DB so i lost interest in anything new coming out) how many characters from the original cast left to be added to the game?

The game relies on you having a good reading comprehension. There have been threads where people were confused about an activation window/wording of a card.
So most of the people end up being people who spend a lot and I mean a lot of time into the game and develop a self-entitlement issue, like many fan bases and create this toxic air about them. Not everyone does this though, it really just depends on how they were raised and how they interact within their external environment.

For the character list it really depends on how deep their willing to go. I mean they can throw in Anime/Manga exclusive characters like Rebecca Hawkings or the man I want, Johnny Steps.

the community is what you make it. There's a thread up right now about how this game has affected people's sex lives.

Top comments are - found my virginity again
Got married - she wanted the lord of D

By the end of the day man it's a childrens' card game, don't take it too seriously

Thank you, thank you. I phrased it differently, but if it's a top comment to you then it doesn't matter that much.

OT: Not the entire community is toxic.
At least 2/3 of it just play the game without "talking" to other people, like (almost) every other game's community.
If you pay attention to nicknames and such, you'll see that it's 20 people, maybe even less than that, who do the trash talk.
Add in some private alt accounts and there you have it, the minority trying everything possible to get a point across that isn't even a point most of the time.

You even get criticism when you play a singleplayer game differently, best example being Undertale.

"NOOOO! Don't kill! Don't use that item! Don't do this! Don't do that! Do this and that instead or else you're a horrible person who I will not respect at all!"

If you don't want to "hear" people's opinions, then maybe don't ask for them.
If you do want to "hear" them, but don't want to argue with people who appear to be jerks. then pick the ones that don't annoy you, and report the jerks.

I summon an inspirational video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_xbEUHKgz4

Apart from that, play the game and have fun for crying out loud.

EDIT: Didn't know *another term for cactus needle* is a swear word here.
