I think I did the 4 fusion with neos though.
I havent had any issues with fusion recovery, are you sure you are selecting specifically cards that were used for fusion? Not just a fusion and a material in the gy that was never used.
Recently, I've experimented with using normal monster strategy with my Elemental Heroes. I play Heart of the Underdog, which allows me to keep drawing normal monsters, which in turn act as materials either for fusion, Fusion Recycling Plant or Thunder Giant's monster effect. It's pretty neat.
