Performance issues. Low FPS on a new gaming PC
I'm running a new gaming rig,:
● Processor: 9th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-9700 (3.0GHz, up to 4.70GHz with Turbo Boost, 12MB Cache)
● Memory: 16GB DDR4 2666MHz (2 x 8GB DIMM)
● Hard Drive: 1TB 7200 RPM+512GB PCIe SSD
● Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB

I'm trying to play at 1440p on High settings and can barely break 55fps. On Medium settings, I'm around 57-50.

On 1080p High Settings, I'm getting 58-60fps with stuttering.

Anyone have any tips on how to run this game in any sort of high graphical mode with good performance/60fps? I would assume my rig should be powerful enough?

nope get trash frames with i9-9900k, 1080ti, 16gb ddr4, installed on SSD @1440p and i get around 50-70 frames with terrible frame pacing issues.

Console port.
Thats normal.

But its weird.. Im running a 1660, ryzen 5 2600 and i never drop below 80 FPS on 1080p, all ultra.

The only thing you can do is, tweak your PC like disable xbox dvr, superfetch and ♥♥♥♥ like that. That helps all games with FPS.

it's the issue with all idtech 5 engine games. this engine is a trash.
look at all these idtech 5 game list. they all have performance issue.

To max this game out i am using a rtx 2080 super "not oc" i7 9700k 16gb 3000mhz Corsair RGB pro, and game is ran on a m.2 970 evo......Even with those specs cant reach 144fps for my 144hz monitor all the time. i see drops to 90 but average around 110. The fps is just all over the place honestly. Game never was correctly fixed.

+1

To the OP - exactly like Villian said, then engine is trash. The only way I could play this game was to lock it at 60fps. I can get higher frames then this but the game has terrible frame pacing problems along with most other idtech5 games.
Download nvidia inspector set fps to a dot above 60fps.

I believe the 60-90 fps, not without stutter or terrible frame pacing though

8700K
1080 Ti
1440p

65 fps upwards, at max video settings. No stutter, crashes, or issues.

However my CPU and GPU load levels are well under 100%, meaning I should potentially get higher fps. Frame rate tops out at about maybe 85fps, with GPU and CPU load still well under 100%.

Upload a video with a frame time graph, it'll be be my pleasure to show you the terrible frame
pacing

Wolfenstein and Doom run on ultra on my PC and Evil Within 2 can't reach stable 60fps even on low. So I played a demo a bit for performance check and decide just put everything on ultra, cap 30 fps, choose half v-sync (don't know how to pronounce in english, I heard this tweak can make 30FPS more smooth like on consoles), and play on gamepad only for smooth experience :D

Actually just double checked my frame rate does go all the way up to my self-imposed frame rate cap. I usually set my cap somewhere around 110 fps.

TEW2 is consistently running at a lower frame rate than it should be though. However as I said above, the image is stable and I never had an issue with it. (Or TEW1.) I was surprised to see folk with problems with TEW2 when I glanced at the discussions.

Been an issue since launch, game's optimization is hot garbage and they never fixed it up.
It's a good game but it runs like utter dog sh*t sadly.

This game even on low can't hold 60 fps for me, so i had to lock it to 30 when i played on high settings when it came out in 2017 [basically a console experience at that point].
Meanwhile titles like Doom Eternal and Resident Evil 3 Remake as the most recent examples can run on Ultra and hold 80-140 fps on average for me with my Ryzen 3700x,16GB DDR4 RAM and RX 580 8GB.

So far no frame pacing issues at all (as verified by RivaTuner frametime graph), but I haven't yet explored the first open area.
60-65FPS, settings on mostly highest except shadows on high and LOD turned on
R5 2600 + GTX 2060
1440p 144Hz G-sync (Vsync off in game)

Definitely a console game, so playing with a gamepad makes the low framerate bearable. This probably yet another game where an adaptive sync monitor is a lifesaver
Tiny Trees May 10, 2020 @ 11:22pm
I have a g-sync, and it's surprising how many games still stutter like garbage at lower frame rates.

It's often just the same as having a non g-sync monitor with v-sync turned on, when under 60fps. Going under 60 fps results in stutter getting worse the lower it goes, but with no screen tearing. Over 60fps and it's gets smoother the higher the frame rate.

We have to cap our frame rate just under the max refresh rate of the monitor too. Otherwise if the game goes over the screen refresh rate, g-sync is lost, and screen tearing starts. The result of capping game frame rate is input lag. Lag is almost but not quite, as much as v-sync input lag on a standard monitor. E.g. about 60ms input lag with v-sync; and maybe 45ms input lag with g-sync at capped frame rate.

What surprised me was this thread. I never even considered that some folks might be getting bad performance. TEW2 runs smooth for me, and I thought it was the same for everyone.
