This really did help. I don't know if I got the short end of the stick or not but when I played this my max GPU usage was like 49%. not it's up to like 90% and I am getting like 85-100 fps in the short gameplay I did, thank you! This should be pinned.

it works thanks

Thank you! This worked perfectly.
This also works with the Game Pass version of the game, in case you landed here after a Google search.

Thanks. When I replay the game I'll use this.

BTW, does it also work for the first game ?

This actually worked. After a year of not being able to play ...this actually worked. Thank you.

One of the constant problems with this game is that GPU utilization will top out at around 70-80%, leading to much lower performance that you would expect on your system. This also exacerbates a poor frame buffering mechanism, where if you're getting close to that 80% you will get large lurches and stutters as the game keeps bouncing off that artificial GPU resource limit.

No other tools like SpecialK/fast sync/Rivatuner could fix this, until I tried DXVK:

https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk

Basically this tool converts Direct3d calls into the Vulkan API. It was primarily part of Proton which allows Windows games to run under Linux, but in some cases just this portion of it on Windows can alleviate problems with games and sub-optimal Direct3D implementations. GTA IV for example is a new game with this, as it is basically the only way to eliminate the horrible stuttering you get on the Windows port. Turns out this helps EW2 as well.

Just place the dxgi.dll and d3d11.dll from the dxvk install folder in EW2's game folder with the .exe's, and that's it. You will get a few stutters for the first few minutes as your Vulkan shader cache is built, but after that it should be significantly smoother sailing. I can get a locked 60 at 1440p maxxed now on my 3060, and just a few drops under at a NIS scaled res of just below 1800p. You won't get 100% GPU usage, but this made my top-end around 93-97% instead of ~75.

Edit: Should note that in several DX11 games, particularly Unreal Engine titles, having the Geforce Experience enabled when trying to use DXVK would result in the game's process just getting stuck in task manager and never finish loading. If this happens in other games when experimenting with this, try to disable GFE if you have it enabled.
There is no dxgi.dll and d3d11.dll files inside dxvk folder from github. What's a problem?

I can't find both the dxgi.dll and the d3d11.dll
I tried downloading even an older release, and I can't seem to find them
Any clue?

You have to download the dxvk-1.10.3.tar.gz and unpack it. Inside are x32 and x64 folders with the dlls.

Can you put this in the Guides page? So that people can find this easier
