Can't Login to Bethesda.net Ingame
I've just received 'The Evil Within 2' as a gift, and have installed it on my Windows PC (via steam), hoping to play. Unfortunately when I launch the game and try to login to Bethesda.net from within, I receive an error message as shown in the uploaded screenshot. I have tried for over an hour to login, and have been unsuccessful, although I can login perfectly fine to the Bethesda account site, using the same login I'm trying ingame.

Having looked online for solutions, I have been unable to find anything whatsoever that will help me out, although I have seen that many other people have been experiencing this particular problem with this game.

If anybody could help me with this, it would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards.

Have you tried using a proxy ? maybe it will fix it for you.

How would a proxy help exactly? They cost money as well right? Sorry, it's just I don't have much experience with using one, and I'm not sure how it'd help with the issue I'm facing.

Because there is this chance that that address that the game is trying to reach is blocked by your ISP.(For me one server of Battlefront 2 doesn't work for me but when I use a proxy I can connect to it)

As for proxies, not all of them cost money, you can find free ones too.

Can you recommend any free proxy? Also, would I just load the proxy and then start the game, is that how it works?

Thanks.

you should download and install.

For example use hotspotshield.

Any update on this? I checked their help forums and there are a couple of posts about this but no replies.

I contacted Bethesda and they gave me an easy workaround. They said they're looking into the matter, although what they told me to do for the time being has really helped.

Basically, you download 'Elder Scrolls Legends' from Steam (5gb or so), and login to it. Once you're logged in, it'll mean that your Steam account has been linked to Bethesda. You can then login to Bethesda properly once you're in The Evil Within 2.

You're also then free to uninstall Elder Scrolls Legends.

What's the point of login to the bethnet thing? Is there any sot of benefit?

(I couldn't do it because apparently they didn't account for people using a gamepad, and I was too lazy to get up and plug my old mouse)
