Can't flip the switches

Playing with keyboard and mouse.Chapter 4. Down in the sewers, I know I have to avoid the monster and get to the room and flip the fuse to unlock the way out. Pressing 'E' only lights 4 bulbs. I've tried holding the key down, going back to try again and again and getting the same result. The majority of bulbs stay off. Getting well fed up. Any advice gratefully recieved! I'm new to gaming to I might be missing something obbvious.

You might not be selecting the switches. Use A and D to move between them.

Oh wait do you mean you can't figure out the pattern? If so do it in this order

So from left to right
flip the second swittch, then first, then the third twice, and then the fourth.

dumbest puzle in the game. Unless I miss something you can only get it by trial and error. No logic to it at all.

Is that one of the switch mini puzzles? There's four switches and each one lights up a different number of lights, right? You need to find the right combination of turning just enough of them on to fill the row of lights without going over. Are you unable to select the other switches?

He is talking about the one in the tunnels where you have to wear a gas mask.

thanks very much guys. New to gaming at the tender age of 65 (years not months) so it is a steep learning curve. I will give it another go as I'm enjoying the game (12 hours in), though whether I manager to finish it before I meet my maker is another matter all together! All the very best.

No problem at all. I hope you get around to playing the first one as well if you haven't already. It's much more linear, but still a very good game.
