I want more games like these!!!!
Ever since I beat EW2, I got this craving for psychological horror type survival horror game. There aren't very many games like these out anymore (RIP Dead Space) but luckily I found this game called Prey (the new one)!!

Evil Within isn't really a shooter, either, but that's not the point. OP said psychological horror, which isn't really about gameplay. OP mentioned Dead Space as well, which isn't psychological horror, so in case OP did mean gameplay (not that Dead Space feels anything like TEW2), I recommended TLOU to cover that.
he just want horror games with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ plots.
which is why all the ones he mentioned fit.

I didn't find The Last Of Us very interesting to be honest. Boring story, decent characters, lame enemies, fun combat and great stealth. The best thing about the game was it's stealth and shooting which made it feel more like a third person military game at times - especially since you barely fight any monsters, more soldiers than anything. The Last Of Us isn't really horror to me.

I assumed the OP wanted some great horror themed characters and enemies more than anything but since third person Horror games are raret these days - with the exception of Resident Evil series going strong, it's hard to make any more modernistic recommendations.

My gripe with RE2 Remake is that everything looks samey which I hate. A boiler room looks similar to the sewers, greenish metal tint to the darker environments. I felt like it's lacking compared to The Evil Within's characters and enviroments and while the shooting area damage is great, it's ruined by making enemies into sponges. While that can be defended with "They were always like that" the game had so much change that it could have improved further.

I really hope we get The Evil within 3 because I know nothing is going to fill the void unless Tango Gameworks makes something horror themselves.

Oh man I really love that game but its not horror in the traditional sense. Its similar to The Walking Dead or Children of Men, if you can call it horror, the story is more about the characters with the horror elements being a world building backdrop and the central objective being straight forward and simple. I tend to mostly play games on their hardest settings so I found the enemies pretty challenging where the lack of bullets had to make me get real creative. Those clickers were so intense and I loved the creepy designs.

That being said I agree, TLOU doesn't come into my thoughts when I am thinking survival horror, even though it does fit that definition. When I think horror I am thinking a central mystery to uncover and destroy by the end of it, decent characterization and relationships are welcomed but its not the central focus because its all about the mystery. Its weird but I definitely never though about putting TLOU on the same category as TEW or RE. And yes I want a TEW 3 so bad.

Actually, Dead Space had quite a few psychological elements to it. Your character Isaac was continuously hallucinated things and it was hard to tell if it was real or not. It was part of how the Relic slowly starts infecting you. Dead Space 2 actually has a big boss battle inside of your head and Dead Space 3 altered your partners perception if you played co-op.

I was searching the Web recently. Seems EW2 didn't run so well, that's probably why we didn't get a performance patch or DLCs.
But Tango Gameworks is still existing and rumours said that they were planing to expand EW2 with another story where you are playing Julie Kidman again and another that should explain what happened to Sebastians partner. (Just forgot his name.) It was mentioned shorlty before the end of EW2 that he would still be alive - his death being another lie of Mobius.

I guess Tango is going to make a new game out of it now instead of a DLC. Fingers crossed! :D:

Btw, I am really looking forward to Death Stranding. After all, Kojima and Del Toro were going to reinvent Silent Hill and P.T. was a hell of a ride already. I am not sure if the game is going to be horror or dark science-fiction, but all the trailers are mindbending enough to keep me thrilled. :2018spacefox:

A lot of the major franchises have been pointed out in this thread already (Silent Hill, RE, ect.), but I do want to praise Lost in Vivo for being one of the few indie horror games that got that psychological survival horror feeling down. It's quite good - lot of surprises and the atmosphere just gets deliciously Silent Hill.

The storefront pictures don't really do it justice, unfortunately.

INFLICTION is a brutally terrifying game heavily inspired by the SILENT HILLS PT Demo. I just started playing THE EVIL WITHIN 2 again and am overwhelmed with joyful terror to find how similar they are in mood and art direction.

Then there is VISAGE which is still in early access and has about two to three more chapters to be created before completion.

There is also a free mod which is the closest thing to the SILENT HILLS PT Demo i have seen. It was created by Radius Gordello with incredible skill capturing the bloodcurdling atmosphere of the PS4 original. The mod has been taken down due to real life time constraints of the mod author but you can get info on other places to download such as reddit in the post section lower down on the main page-

I don't know if it's been mentioned already or you have played it, but Cry of fear is awesome. This and the Dead Space trilogy are my favourite horror games ever. I really recommend trying the game, it's a really good survival horror. https://store.steampowered.com/app/223710/Cry_of_Fear/?l=spanish

Yup I played that series on the PS3 when it was available via the PSN store.

If someone is interested in that game, Forbidden Siren is currently on sale in the PSN store for PS4, 4€ or something.
