Depends on what people would find scary. For the most part it's very much like any other zombie game, but there are a few more "ghostly" encounters which have a bit more of a horror feel to them.

It’s got some legit freaky environments and encounters.

It's a bit scary but action oriented, though TEW I has that medieval horror atmosphere elements, compared to TEW II.

If you play it the first time there can be scary moments. First time contacting "Anima" and i got a cold feeling in my stomach and the sick sense somewhat stands behind my computer chair :d_ghost:

Second time i meet her this scary moment was over. Anima routine ...:steamhappy:

after so many horror games, and post apocaliptic games ive become so desynthesized that nothing surprises me.
so nah, its not scary for me. but im gald it isnt , since the focuse was on giving us good hooror action where we get to fight and kill horrible disgusting creatures, that woud traumatize a child.

Not half as much as the first game. Safety deposit box head legit broke me. It's got some heart pounding moments and a few jumps, but nothing that has made me have to pause the game and walk away for ten minutes.

its just jump scarey, just twisted as ♥♥♥♥.

Nothing in this game jumpscared me in this game as of chapter 13.
There are some sudden scene changes, but you can tell that the game isn't meant to scare the player, you have wepons, you can sneak up mobs and take them by surprise, most of the game YOU are the "monster" and the lost are your prey.
Now the story conveys some interesting psychedelic sequences, can be disturbing for some people, so if you're not into gore, people in pieces not a game for you.
There are no references to ghosts, demons or whatsoever, so if you have weird fears with those things the game should be ok for you, as long as - as I sad - you're ok with gory graphics.

Well, in the guide book to "The Evil Within 2", p.262, is a concept drawing of Anima titled "Ghost" ...
Yeah, still the game right away says: You're in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ matrix, there are no ghosts and demons here, just disturbed minds and bugs. Not that bugs aren't scary, but still.
The Evil Within 1 by the other hand really kept you wondering, the mobs were even called "the haunted" there was no way for you to not associate that shet with supernatural shet.

Some people demand that horror games now need to be like Amnesia to be scary. The same people that won't finish Amnesia because they grew bored of the puzzles instead of enjoying any experience by their own merits.

Look, you'll have Dead Space/RE4 Horror (vicious monsters try to get you, but with scavenging and choosing the right tool for the job -or run!-you can make it trough).

And there's some Amnesia moments, where you'll be defenseless and too overwhelmed to defend yourself.

The pacing between these styles keeps the game scary for some times, but also varied enough to not be overbearing and unfinishable to be such tiring to play.

Jumpscares and opressive atmosphere in equal good measure.

Hope that helps.

true, the first one at certain points, bored me enough with repetition, to make me stop playing it. i finished the game, because i needed of my ist of unfinished games.
but it did bored me many times. at first it was boring but then it would repat the same stuff and bore me.

on the oither hand, this second entry, always kept me entertained, and focused. liked the story and like how they used horror, without the need of constant cliche jumpscares.

You could tell us what already scares you first.

When you just start playing the game at the beginning, it is scary, but as time goes on, it slowly stops Being scary And you get used to it.
