Classic mode
Starting my classic mode attempt. I’ve checked out a few guides but Everyone has different save game recommendations it seems. Just curious at what point anyone who’s completed it would recommend to use my save points at. Thanks!

1. Chapter 3 after collecting a certain amount of supplies and locker keys
2. Before Guardian boss fight
3. Before Stefano boss fight
4. Before the cabin defense
5. Before the Firewalk segment
6. After enter Theo's tower, before the maze segment
7. Before Myra boss fight

Saves before Firewalk and Cabin defense are highly recommended. Others just come down to your preference.

I just made my first save before entering the marrow for the first time. I was going to wait until before the gaurdian fight, but I got lucky with keys and what the lockers gave me so I decided to play it safe and save

I beat the Classic with this place for saves:

  • Save #1: Start Chapter 4 when O'Neil give the mask to Sebastian (It's the long part becuz in Chapter 1-4 need gunpowder, new weapons, keys etc.....so is high chance to die) You can avoid the ghost lady.
  • Save #2: Chapter 8 before battle Stefano (mirror)
  • Save #3: Chapter 9 after battle disciples fire Theodore
  • Save #4: Start Chapter 11
  • Save #5: Start Chapter 13
  • Save #6: Start Chapter 14 (After fight the horde enemies)
  • Save #7: Start Chpater 15

I think that "mentally" the first save is maybe the most important one because there's so much you could possibly do in chapter 3. However, I found it's easy because you only need to do these things:

- Get sniper parts from roof
- Get crossbow
- Open second save house with shock bolt
- Do main mission
- Go to O'Neal
- AFTER that get missing sniper rifle parts (no enemies there anymore)
- Enter second safehouse
- Save

While doing these things, collect everything you come across that's safe to get. Regarding the main mission:

- When exiting the gas station, you can prevent the "dogs" from triggering by going West at the northern border of the map, only turning South again when you're about in the middle, returning to the streets directly next to the East of the second safehouse - the next mission point should be right across the street.
- When preparing your entry to the warehouse, it's a good idea to not only kill everyone there, but also pull the dumpster to where you can climb up and leave the area by going over the fence later.
- When the dogs appear after you exit the warehouse: use shockbolt to stun them.
- Run straight to the dumpster, climb it and leave the area by hopping over the fence - the dogs should disappear after a few seconds.
- Go back to O'Neal on main street.

For me is long part becuz i'm sure have much gunpowder, infact when O'Neil give the gas mask, i have 300-400 gunpowder, if do have that value in this part, is 75% sure you have "infinite ammo" for finish the Classic Mode.

The Final Chapter when fight Myra, i have it "infinite ammo".

But as classic mode basically supplants weapon parts with gunpowder, there's sooo much gunpowder available throughout the game anyway, so I think it's not necessary to go out of your way to collect huge amounts of it in chapter 3.

I don't know but probably you are right, the resources with keys have much gunpowder, herb etc...

Just made my second save before the Stephano boss battle....I have around 450 gunpowder and 150 herbs. Is it safe for me to stop collecting stuff probably and just focus on beating the game?

Yeah is very good, if you find too the key statue = easy mode, becuz give you extra much gunpowder and herbs.

My first save was mid-chapter 7 after clearing everything but prior to doing the paintings. I wanted to go to the Stefano fight but the game had already crashed on me in the paintings.

I also did the side quests (except the ghost lady) including the Sykes rescue which I practiced until I could clear it using only a single shock bolt (net - a single explosive bolt, which you get back inside the safe house, a single shock bolt, and a few bottles).

Heh. Not me. I'm the worst gamer on the planet. I basically cheese my way through all the tough parts. I'm 1/3 of the way through Dark Souls 3 and ~1500 arrows expended (arrows and patience are the two essential ingredients in cheesing a DS game). :-)

I should note that the reason I opened the Sykes safe room in classic mode is it makes clearing chapter 7 really easy. It's perfectly located for short runs to all sides of the map and entering the door acts like crouching while entering a tunnel. All the enemies immediately de-aggro. The 2 "white witches" around the corner are easy to take out this way and you can get the pouch. The back entrance to the Hotel is now easy to get to for this chapter and the later one when you're back here. And given it basically costs a single Shock bolt, unlike most people, I think it's worth it.

Judging from you coming up with that strat, you can't be that bad. ;-)

Anyway, I'm also far away from being able or willing to do that. In TEW1 I feel more competent (having done Akumu with no upgrades, no keys and no speedrunners' "skips", while collecting all collectibles along the way).

Most "courageous" thing I ever did in the "no save" department was a no save run for REmake on real survival - but there a run can be done in under two hours, so if you ♥♥♥♥ this up somehow it's not really that bad.

I hate the challenge REmake, becuz you can't save and you force play entire game. :(

You mean the one where you stand outside of the fence throwing bottles and waiting 5 minutes for 3 Lost to suicide? Do you know a better example of cheesing? :-)

I'm pretty sure you'll need to replay the game from your last save and beat it again. You'll need to save it AFTER you beat the game and then when you play NG+ it will ask you which game to load and you'll pick that one.
