The Evil Within 2 - Debug console commands

To enable the console go to your steam library, right click on The Evil Within 2 and select “properties” then under the general tab, select “set launch options". Put this line in to unlock the console:

+com_allowconsole 1

Use "insert" key to open it when in-game. Some of the commands only work when in "CHEAT MODE"(achievements will be disabled!), just type "toggle" in console and "CHEAT MODE" will be enabled.

I've tired to find some useful commands to tweak the game and to enable the free camera for screenshots but sadly, "ToggleDebugCamera" command doesn't work properly. There is "pm_noclipspeed" but separate noclip command doesn't exist.

"bink_disable" I think it's for intro videos but when set to 1 it crashes the game. Couldn't find anything else for skipping the intros.

I've tried to force MSAA with "r_multisamples" but it doesn't work.

"m_smooth" - by default it's set on 1 and it can't be changed to 0. I think there is a slight mouse smoothing in the game even with Vsync disabled but I'm not 100% sure.


The only useful command that I've found so far is for LOD. Precisely for ground textures. It enables better ground texture render distance:

"vt_lodbias" - default setting is "-2" and the max/min value that can be used is "-22". Everything bellow that breaks the textures. Here's some gif comparisons:

To list all available commands while in-game use listcmds or listcvars then with "page up/down" scroll through the console. You can use "find" for searching.


If anyone finds out how to enable the free camera properly or some other tweaks post it here.

I've been messing around with the game trying to find codes aswell. One thing that I found is that changing certain CVARS doesn't make any effect. Maybe they're not being used at all, or they're cheat protected. "g_infiniteammo" for example, works. I also have a dump with all strings found in the game executable. I just don't know if it's illegal to post this kind of stuff. (I guess can teach someone who owns the game to extract this information). In the executable there are many mentions to "noClip" and "godMode". But none of the command work. I've also tested the "test camera", and it simply doesn't move.

I typed "toggle" in command I think , and it did warn me about cheat mode , and to restart the game , I restarted the game but now the console is no longer working . what to do ? I wanted to type in Com_showFPS to get native fps counter shown ...

It's unfortunate that actually unlocking infinite ammo as an actual mechanic can only be done by completing Classic mode.

Com_showFPS is now a setting you can enable in options.

Options > Graphics > Performance Metrics

A lot of commands here you can use but I was wondering, how do you deactivate one of these? I tried out "killshot" and want to turn it off now. I have tried adding a 0 at the end but that did not work.
