I'd say it's worse, texture resoltuionis better but it's not megatextures now, so it's just repeated textures and lacking a lot of amtospheric effects compared to the first and what idtech is actually able to do. Overall as a package 2 is a massive downgrade to me.
What helped me was turn down Shadows from Ultra to High and Volumetric Light Quality to Medium.
This will help much more and you won't see a difference ingame.
Well that seems to be working too, changed the ssr quality to high, dropped the volumetric to medium and shadows are in ultra, game seems to be running just fine now, thanks.
More like 25 fps average. And peaks around 30 fps.
