Disable the SSR quality to improve the performance.
Had lot of trouble running the game before disabling the SSR(screen space reflections) quality setting, as it seems to be creating some sort of bottleneck for the cpu/gpu and it makes the game run bad.

Still the game uses my card only about 70-80%, but for now it is playable.

I don't want my game to look even worse than it already does. It's hardly an improvement over the first one, visually...

I'd say it's worse, texture resoltuionis better but it's not megatextures now, so it's just repeated textures and lacking a lot of amtospheric effects compared to the first and what idtech is actually able to do. Overall as a package 2 is a massive downgrade to me.

For me SSR deactivating has no big effect.

What helped me was turn down Shadows from Ultra to High and Volumetric Light Quality to Medium.

This will help much more and you won't see a difference ingame.

Well that seems to be working too, changed the ssr quality to high, dropped the volumetric to medium and shadows are in ultra, game seems to be running just fine now, thanks.

it looks worse than the first game. this was done on purpose since EW1 ran at 15 fps on console.

More like 25 fps average. And peaks around 30 fps.
